Metal-Wrapped Wallet Protects Against ID Theft
In the past, fearing that hackers could lift personal info from your passport or wallet using antennas would probably make you seem a bit mentally unsound. Today, however, you could very well be right – and now you can buy a metal-lined wallet to protect yourself. Now available from lifestyle design company Kena Kai, DateSafe wallets are designed with a metalized nylon that disrupts the transmission of radio frequency identification, or RFID. This technology, now used in passports, credit cards, electronic toll passes, building access cards, and more, transmits information that is processed by a scanner so you don't have to physical swipe anything through a machine. With the right antenna and software, a thief could steal your personal information without you knowing. Even security experts have recommended wrapping your passports in tin foil, just to be safe.
Kena Kai claims that hackers will only get smarter, so why not buy one? They're made of leather, weigh the same as a normal wallet, and come in a variety of functional and stylish designs, so you'll look good while protecting yourself.
Then again, these wallets run from $80 to $225, so tin foil, though not as fashionable, is a much cheaper alternative.

Spike says:
Where can you get "tin foil?" I haven't seen any in 60 years
I believe tinfoil=aluminum foil. I recall that term being used in the 40's and 50's.

Identity theft is what it is. People are stupid, period. Tell all of them they create it when they pay on a credit/debit card before the transaction is over. Thieves can take 9 numbers from the internet and have fun with any card..............DUH

And are these wallets MADE IN AMERICA or made in China????
I think tin foil is a much better idea. If the wallets are made in China (or elsewhere) who is to say they don't have something implanted in the wallet so nobody else steals your information BUT THEM??
Stranger things have happened!! (like how the Chinese have been actively trying to recruit spies very recently).

I have invented a new product that will stop this type of identity theft. I call it CASH !!!
For $80.00 on your Visa Card I will send you $50.00 in CASH !!! No foil, lead, or titanium needed.

RFID Blockr http://www.rfidblockr.com makes wallets and passport cases that block RFID chip signals. They have a copper wire mesh sewn into the lining. I have one of each and they are awesome and match my tinfoil hat ;)

I read about those RFID passports and it is true that they can be scanned by anyone, although they,US passport agency or other government agencies are attempting to get some sort of protection on the page the chip for RFID is located. I check out Anne one of your readers suggestion. I went to the website: www.smartitag.com and from what I read, it is a very simple ans to a complex problem. What I liked about this smartitag was, I dont have to write down my address or phone number on the tags. Since I travel allot it always concerns me that baggage handlers will call their buddies and rob my home while I am away, and with the luggage tag I have now my name, address and phone number is visible. I ended up buying one of them Smartitags. Pretty good price as well, 9 tags cost me 17.95. I gave some to the kids for their backpacks.
