U2's Bono, Bill Gates, and Michael Dell Unveil New Red Laptops

Bono, Michael Dell (founder and chairman of dell) and Bill Gates announced the launch of four new additions to the (Product)Red line yesterday at the World Economic Forum. Dell introduced the (Product) Red XPS One desktop, and the M1330(13") and M1530(15") (Product)Red laptops, which come with a copy of (Product)Red Windows Vista Ultimate and generate $50 or $80 for Bono's Global Fund initiatives. Dell also announced the (Product) Red All-In-One Printer, for 99$, with $5 of the price tag going to the Global Fund.

These are the first PCs to be offered by the (Red) campaign, which already sells lines of clothes and accessories by Emporio Armani and gap, shoes by Converse, special edition ipods, hallmark greeting cards, a Motorola phone, and an American Express card. The Windows Vista that each of the PCs comes with, has special (Product)Red backgrounds, applications, and a screen saver to remind you of your philanthropy. Now you can finally buy a desktop for your kid to take to college, and six months of antiretroviral drugs for an African living with AIDS.
