3. Skip voicemail greetings

You know the drill – you call someone and have to sit through a long personal or automated greeting, or worse, both, and it eats up your time and minutes. Depending on the carrier, keypad buttons like 7, 1, and * can sometimes get you right to the beep (check each provider's Web site for specific instructions).
