Man Accidentally Kills Wife During Botched Satellite TV Install
You know those annoying pro-cable commercials that always talk about how awful or expensive it is to install a satellite dish, and how comparatively easy, cheap, and dependable cable is? Yeah, well, they don't have anything on this story out of Sedalia, Missouri, where a husband has admitted to shooting his wife during the install of a home satellite TV system.
Amazingly the husband, Ronald Long, was trying to use a .22-caliber pistol to shoot a hole through the wall in the couple's home to enable them to run a wire through to the television. His first shot was apparently unsuccessful in penetrating the wall and his second shot somehow hit his wife in the chest, 34-year-old Patsy Long. She was pronounced dead on Saturday night.
Ronald could now be charged with manslaughter, though prosecutors haven't confirmed whether that is their intention. It also remains to be seen whether the cable companies will start filming new ads about these new potential dangers of satellite dish installation, but we wouldn't put it past them.

to LeslieK007: You can have the North. I don't even want to visit any city up there. And what kind of dumbass leaves Georgia to live in New York?

This individual should be tested to see if he is smart enough to understand his actions. I don't believe he is intelligent enough to feel any grief for his actions. It is tragic this lady was marrid to someone that stupid.

Dear P Curly,
With all due respect, please refer to my first post. The Mason Dixon line is a clouded line.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mason-Dixon_line
As I previously stated, Missouri was a southern sympathising state under a northern rule with barely a statehood in it's shadow. Refer to the "Battle of New Athens" or the "Palmyra Massacre" for the first battle of the Civil War, and the worst tragedy of the Civil War as quoted from Abraham Lincoln. The remainder of Missouri's involvement were several south Missouri battles and William Quantrill's guerilla rebels. The confederacy never had a Missouri batallion or Regiment. Missouri men had to travel to join the confederacy. You can see the statue of my forefather Willis Baker in the town square in Palmyra, Mo.

They say ignorance is bliss, but, stupidity is forever.
WAIT, !! WAIT!! Hold on to this guy! I think he's presidential material.
At the minimum, he'll qualify as good material for a Congressman, Senator, or even a New York Governor.

If MO is a red neck southern state then what is NY the carpet bagger state?
Why not open a brothel up there and save the air fare and the rugs?
With ex-governors and new governors and past presidents all having affairs of/in state. Why not call it "The cheater State?"
MikeMar 26th 2008 10:52PM
A real redneck woundn't have used a gun that way either. We're working folks who have tools and know how to use them. We also know what guns are for and how to use them. This guy is just plain old fashioned stupid. Too bad you have to kill yourself to get a Darwin Award. He sure Qualifies in every other way.

Politically Incorrect: Maybe it's more common to see people retire to the south, but there are lots of us who do just the opposite.
This country is blessed with such a diverse landscape and cultures, there's something here for everyone.
Nuff said

You might be a redneck if...
you attempt to install a satellite dish by shooting a hole in the wall with a gun rather than using a drill and end up shooting your wife in the chest instead.
What an idiot.
Mr. MissouriMar 26th 2008 10:57PM
By the way, I have a southern drawl and live in Missouri. It may also be possible to be correct in assuming that if you disrespect the south around me or my family, You'll probably be punched in various places around the face until you take back your words. I have strong beliefs in my stance that the South is still my allies in my rights to the second ammendment for the right to bear firearms.
dieseljockeyMar 26th 2008 11:05PM
My question is this, "Why was HE installing the satellite? There's more to this story. What could a 22 bullet do that a drill wouldn't??
loring cornishMar 26th 2008 10:59PM
I've read all of the comments up until this one.
Unfortunately, it hurts me to read and experience the pride that society displays. We, as human beings can always make ourselves to be better than the other.
In this instance a young life is lost and another life will face excruciating circumstances for the rest of their life. Not to mention the effects this has on family members and friends on both sides of the family. In a public forum, such as this, is it too much for us to express sympathy. A life is lost. Another life will be affected for the rest of his life. Is it possible that we could stop pointing fingers, name calling and discussing the details of the M..D line.

plburroughs says:
A 22 slug will probably not leave a big enough hole for an RG-6 cable. Certainly not for two cables if it has a dual LNB.
03/26/08 1:42 PM
have your wife stand in the other room and try it then let me know if the 22 was big enough LOL duH rednecks... try using a drill! if nothing else a saw, a recipricating saw, or if nothing else use a screw driver and a hammer lol wow.. i think its an excuse but then again there are people out there that stupid to try something like this

Lesliek007, we in the south thank New Yorkers for their recent contributions such as Hillary Clinton. This guy probably thought he was under sniper fire & was just defending his HBO...
EmilyMar 26th 2008 11:07PM
Oh Jamie, now some of old Yankees are OK, We were the fist rebels to fight those damn red coats.
I've been to GA, very pretty, and my husbands family way back came from there. But NH is beautiful especialll in the fall. Just don't bother with the larger cities. We still have snow up here have since before Thanksgiving. Right now I wish I was down south.
Ya'll take care ... Aye Yah.

To the boob who wrote "those too stupid to live, won't" where did it say it was HER idea for this Dill weed to use a gun in place of a screwdriver?! HE was too stupid-SHE didn't live because of that! It may sound funny given the way the story has been presented but the fact is some poor woman is dead!Maybe if it happened to your momma you wouldn't be so quick to laugh!
