Line Extends Around the Block For ATM That Pays Double

If a bank's automatic teller machine was malfunctioning and spitting out extra cash, what would you do? Call the bank and let them know of the error, or just hurry up and get in line? According to the Daily Mail, dozens of Brits chose the latter, queuing up outside a local convenience store when it was discovered that the ATM machine on the curb was paying out twice what people had requested.
Usually £300 (about $600) is the limit a British ATM machine will pay out, but this one was happy to pay out up to £600 all the while only debiting half that against the users' accounts. As word of the generous ATM spread, the line lengthened until the machine, at last completely spent, stopped giving up the goods.
You might think that these users will surely see an extra withdrawal applied to their accounts later to make up for the discrepancy, but there's actually a chance these folks may get off without paying extra, all because the banks may just decide that it's not worth the hassle to track down the offenders.
Here's to corporate efficiency!

How the hell is it stealing if the flipping ATM machine made the mistake.

It is amazing to see the dimwits who write "there" instead of "their" and "your" instead of "you're". They are going to need malfuntioning ATM machines to make any money at all, because they are too much of lamebrains to go out and earn any!

I hope they catch up to every one of these thieves and charge them with mass robbery! Just because they aren't wearing dark clothes and ski masks they are robbing the bank of that money! And the ones who brought along their kids to see them do it? May each kid pinch the parents wallets while the crooks sleep!

The human individual is inherently evil...as this story proves, once again. Given the opportunity to choose between right and wrong, the majority will choose the dark side.

Well whether you agree with the ethics of those folks it would not be very hard to track any of them down. when ever you do a transaction with an ATM machine you are given a Transaction number. In it is your Name, Account, what bank, what Branch etc. Not to mention most ATMs snap a photo of the person doing during the transaction. I dont know what the law are over there but knowingly taking money from a bank is a Federal crime in the U.S..

To clear up any misunderstanding from my previous comment,I do not believe taking $$ from an ATM is right. But when I tried to tell the manager about the machine giving out $10 instead of $1,he ignored me.And he did it in a demeaning way like I was nothing.I went back through the self checkout register because I was mad as hell.He only listen to me when the male customer got his attention for me.Also I didn't hide the fact that I had got a bunch of $10 bills instead of $1 bills, the $$ was still in my hand.He didn't ask for them back and I didn't volunteer to give them back.

Believe me. The bank will find these people. I have brought an error like this to the attention of the bank. What goes around, comes around.

Why would "Joe" say liberals are thieves when all the evidence points to right-wingers like Bush, Cheney, Hitler and all the other famous fascist murderers and torturers? Hasn't he heard of Iraq? The fact that Joe accuses liberals shows what a liar and a thief he is! It even says in the Bible that men of high degree are a lie!

Didn't someone recently say, that if you think people are basically good...try doing without cops for a few days!

if it was me i think that i would do the same thing by keeping the money.

Maybe some of those people could have used the extra money to feed their kids. What makes you think this wasn't a small miracle for one person? Maybe, maybe not. But don't get all high and fucking mighty and say "Oh I would never do something like that".. What may seem like a "sin" to you in some situations, may in fact be a blessing from God to others. So what I'm saying is unless you are standing up in that line, you have no f'n business opening your ignorant imbecilic pie hole.
