Virgin Mobile Ad Pokes Fun at Eliot Spitzer
While New Yorkers are still reeling over the supersonic decline of the formerly highly regarded Governor Eliot Spizer, marketing execs for Virgin Mobile in Canada are taking advantage of the situation with an ad playing on Spitzer's status as "Client Number 9."
The ad shows a picture of Spitzer with a thought bubble saying "I'm tired of being treated like a number," running with the following subtly racy subtext:
At Virgin Mobile, you're more than just a number. When you call us we'll treat you like a person, not a client. Whether you're #9 or #900, you'll get hooked up with somebody who'll finally treat you just how you want to be treated.Ouch, Virgin Canada. Très ouch. Our readers to the north can look forward to snickering at this one in Toronto-area papers all this week.

Virgin Mobile is a trashy company ran by crass executives to have put out an ad like this. The man has fallen. Let him be. There is no need to spit on him. Virgin Mobile is worse than what they are ridiculing. The company's exectives are VULTURES! I would never ever patronize any of Virgin Mobile's products or services ever.

I'm not saying VM was right but this is no different than the many companies, comedians and so forth that took advantage of Bill Clinton. Your out there in the oublic eye what do they expect? Policticans are no differnt than actors in this sense....and VM is one of the TOP RATED cell phone companies far far from trashy....

Another tastelss comment by a very sub standard company. And the tag line, "the way you want to be treated". Well that works if you expect to be treated like crap. Let's just say that after being on hold for 45 mintues the person who answered was extremely nasty,rude and very unhelpful and when I asked to speak to her supervisor she hung up on me. Adn the website isn't any help either. DO NOT GET INVOLVED WITH THIS COMPANY for your own good.

Lets try and remember not only his wife, but this man has daughters who are paying a huge price for his mistakes. This will stay with them for life. Virgin Moble sucks.

Hopefully, his wife leaves him. She can never stay in a marriage after this public humiliation as well as being forced to see this hookers pictures plastered all over. At least if you don't see your wife's whores, you don't have her picture in your mind. The imagination can be very cruel, but actual visuals is far worse. Especially, when she sees half naked pictures. She needs to leave now, and take the daughters. Those girls will have trust issues forever. How will they trust their husbands, when their father treated their mother so horribly..the less attention this gets, the better for the family

DJ: Hillary stayed. I believe Spitzer's wife will stay, at least for now. On the one hand it is so hard to understand why she would live with such public humiliation and betrayal. On the other hand, keeping the family together should be everyone's top priority, where that is possible. Certainly Spitzer doesn't deserve any consideration; it is pretty obvious he never put his family first!
So should Hillary and Silda be pitied, should they be ostracized for putting up with their husbands, or should they be commended for keeping their family together? Tough call.

Hey, he didn't do something more shameful like siphoning funds, or launching war on innocents, or bumping off a rival. Those are far more serious crimes but the whole world seems to be going on about sex as if it is the worst crime. Hah!
