Best Budget Home Theater In a Box System (HTIB):
Onkyo HT-SR800
So what if your dream TV took a bigger bite out of your savings than you expected? It doesn't mean you're stuck with wimpy audio for your home theater, thanks to the Onkyo HT-SR800 HTIB system from Onkyo. With up to 7.1 surround sound, you get high quality audio and switching between two HDMI sources that support up to 1080p resolution (the highest HD resolution possible). It lacks a built-in DVD player – you can't get everything for this price – but it's Sirius and XM- ready (and some XM programming can even can be broadcast in 5.1 surround). Add in an optional iPod dock and your entertainment needs are met.

I bought this system and love it except for one (for me crucial) problem. The HDMI in the system is Passthrough only. Which means you are going to need to hook up a separate audio cable from your player to the receiver in order to hear anything. If you are planning to get the uncompressed audio of blu-ray players like the PS3 and the true 7.1 sound you will not be able to do it. Spend the $100 more and get the next model up that includes true HDMI for audio as well and one less cord to buy.
