World's Smallest Microwave - the iWave Cube

The iWave Cube compacts your standard microwave into a box about the size of a small ottoman. It even has a handle on top for lugging your cook box around (you know, for all those times you really need to lug a microwave around).
The genesis of the iWave Cube is even weirder than the product itself. On the device's home page, the Managing Member of iCubed International, Phil Davis, says, "I was looking for a way to do a hot towel treatment before my shave. I figured the only way I could do that was to have a microwave in the bathroom. I went and got a tape measure, and it went from there."
The usefulness of the iWave Cube is questionable. Though the space-saving form makes it the perfect size for a dorm room, the iWave Cube doesn't look like it can heat up anything much larger than a Cup'Noodle or mug of hot water.
One thing we are sure of, though, is the name is absolutely terrible. Please, please, please, stop sticking lowercase 'i's in front of your company or product name, especially if it has nothing to do with the Internet which is what the 'i' originally was meant to imply.
The Cube retails for $130 via SkyMall (that shopping mag in the seat pouch of every flight you've ever taken).

I think that's awesome. Micro engineering is becoming more prevalent in the world these days.
I saw the world's smallest fishing rods & reels last nite on the web. I think they're cool. If you like fishing, check this video out!

WHAT THE HELL USE IS THAT THING FOR ??? IF ANYTHING, THEY SHOULD GET BIGGER. MY WIFE NEEDS ONE THE SIZE OF A 58 BUICK. BETTER YET, HOW ABOUT A REFRIGERATER WHERE YOU CAN REMOVE THE FOOD FROM THE BOTTOM AND THEN USE THAT SECTION AS A MICRO-WAVE ???

Several years ago I purchased a similar sized microwave and placed it close to my computer. I use it everyday for coffee or tea. I've ordered another one for a friend. I love mine and would be lost without it.

I own the SHARP Half Pint, which is similar to this newer oven and is 22 years old and works perfect!!!!!!. I wonder if it's worth any thing or can be displayed in a National Museum. LOL
CarlosMar 5th 2008 8:11AM
The front loudspeaker styled grille is for shouting the commands to the oven I suppose, like "heat the towel mike" because I don't see any operating buttons, but tell me it has a blue light inside, My God !!!

Depending on it's wattage, this may be a VERY useful item for long-haul truckers. Probably not so much for people who travel in cars, tho as most microwaves use too much power for a car's battery. But truckers would find it very useful.

Nice concept, I have a small mw on my desk by my computer because I'm a writer, this one isn't much smaller but I'd buy one if it came in red or white and the priced dropped below $100

I have a GE 0.3 cu. ft. microwave that my husband got me for my classroom several years before I retired. We now use it as backup during busy times, or when the big one has gone out. I had several other teachers come in to heat up things like coffee or lunch (it's almost exactly the width of a Budget Gourmet meal, and most asked where they could get one like it. It's the smallest one I've ever seen to date.

I'd like one as I am unable to walk and it would be great to have on my computer desk to heat coffee, tea, a cup of soup for lunch, a Danish, etc. Good idea.
STUPIDTRACKMar 5th 2008 11:38AM
What idiot wrote this? Most microwaves are smaller than a "small ottoman".
