Wikipedia Founder Breaks Up With Girlfriend Via Wikipedia
Dumping someone via text message is cruel. Dumping them via Facebook status message, for all your friends to see, is even more cruel. But dumping someone by updating a Wikipedia page that all the world can see, well, that's an entirely different realm of cruelty. Alas, that's exactly what Wikipedia co-founder Jim Wales did to announce the termination of relations with his fling, former Fox News correspondent Rachel Marsden. The whole story rides a tawdry wave of sexy chat transcripts and accusations of improper behavior among the hallowed keepers of the Wiki. Wales admits meeting Mardsen after she made complaints to the site about some things posted on her Wiki page. The two later met and started a relationship, at which point Wales says he banned himself from any involvement in future edits of Marsden's page. Apparently, however, things started to go sour when Wales indicated the two were separated via an update to the globally public Wikipedia itself (originally posted here), only telling Mardsen herself directly (via IM) later.
Marsden, rather irate about the dumping, turned around and leaked some sexy chat transcripts to Valleywag in which, among other things, the two lovers plan out their sexual antics and discuss privacy concerns regarding Google. She then followed that up by posting some of Wales' personal items on eBay, a likewise unclassy move but, given the circumstances, perhaps not entirely unwarranted.

Well, this proves it...some men are just total pigs. This rivals the "post-it" note breakup from Sex and the City...see, art does imitate life...LOL

After reading the article, the meaning seems clear. She started it, he ended it. Both parties showed questionable judgement at best. Men are not pigs. Both men and women can and do behave badly. If the story is accurate these two people are a prime example of that. Let's not vilify poor pigs. Only people are capable of this kind of dirty behavior.

Years ago my best friend was dating someone in another department.
She found out he dumped her when he showed up at the office Christmas party with a date. He made a big show of being with someone else and his friends laughed that he "got her good."
This was after she spent a fortune for a great outfit and EVERYONE knew they were dating.
When she asked him why he didn't just tell her privately, he smirked, "You got the message, didn't you?"
She was so humiliated she left the company for a worse job, but she had the last laugh. The company she moved on to thrives to this day and she is a big supervisor; the old company went belly-up.
Then guess who didn't get a job there when he applied? He called her up begging for a job and didn't even apologize.
If he had just been an adult, she probably would have let it go, but after he rubbed her face in the dirt in front of everyone, I didn't blame her for hanging up on him.
Men are incredible; they take big honking craps on women and then expect favors from them.

Men and women are capable of this behavior. To say that only men or women do this or that is very narrow and unfair.
Also remember, what goes around comes around. It may not be by that person that wronged you or that you wronged but those that continue the same behavior will eventually get theirs.

Well....My husband does this crap....says he is single when actually he is married and hooks up with women on the internet and on dating sites. It then went to actually meeting a coworker at her other job and seeing as tho we all work together...I found out! She quit and now we both are going to therapy. Men have a problem with commiting to one woman. But they need a wife for someone to come home to and have for when they need them....but want everything on the side. But if a woman does it....all hell breaks loose. Men are pigs!! I married one.

Quit insulting PIGS! They are DECENT creatures! Not like these 2 scumbags. Now THAT'S the description that fits. High tech stuff can be a great thing, but it can also be mean, insulting & degrading to some. Welcome to 2008.

Big deal! Some of you women behave as though only men do stuff like this. If you'd open your eyes, you'd see there's ample rudeness exhibited by both genders.

Tarsio?? Speak for yourself. When I got married and stated those vows....I meant them and live by them. Yes...women do it too but in my case....I have never hurt a sole and would never married if I can't commit to my husband. If you can't commit to your partner, then marriage isn't for you. Stay single!
