Text Messages Lead Police to Kidnapped Girl
Thankfully for a kidnapped 16 year-old girl from Wheatland, Oregon, her captor, 37-year-old David Anthony Faboo, did not take her cell phone.According to the Sacramento Bee, the girl met Faboo via chat-rooms and MySpace. Faboo drove from his home in Hillsboro, Oregon (about an hour away) to meet the girl, then started to take her towards the state line. The girl quickly realized her error and started text-messaging her friend. With the cooperation of the girl's cell phone provider, the authorities were able to track her constant text messages and nabbed Faboo near Grants Pass, Oregon -- about 300 miles north of the girl's home in Wheatland.
We normally would suggest you not judge a book by its cover, but just look at this guy. To steal a joke from Zach Galifianakis -- this guy looks like he walked into a barber shop and asked for an Amber Alert.

Seriously... HOW STUPID ARE KIDS THESE DAYS?! I mean, good for her for texting, but seriously... how about some parenting?! I'm pretty sure my parents told me not to take rides with strangers. WHAT THE HELL?!

First of, why do parents allow children to have a myspace account without keeping track of them. Glad the girl is safe, but parents need to keep better track of who their children are chatting with online always!!!

AOL owes it to all of us to hold writers to a high standard of accuracy. And putting a CA town in Oregon is inexcusably poor reporting.
The article on insurance was even worse. The writer clearly didn't know what he was talking about. He is a dangerous person; some people are foolish enough to take his advice and drop insurance policies without a lot of research. Policies are not created equal, nor are insurance companies all rated excellent. There

I'm sick of the many of you who criticized the girl. Didn't YOU make a mistake when you were were 16? I certainaly did, and am still making mistakes. Just thank God (or pure dumb luck, if you prefer) that she had the presence of mind to do her best to get out of it. But I hope that she, and her parents, and a lot of other teenagers and their parents, have learned something from this. As far as the guy, you can't tell a predator by how he looks. There are a lot of predators who look just like you and me; just ask your local police. And they rely on niave teenagers just like her to get their kicks.

I'm glad the teenager is safe, however, if she was my daughter I'd beat her butt b/c she should have known better than to get into a car with a bear-man. Based on his looks alone, there is no way in the world she should have done that.

LAY OFF THE GIRL, FOLKS. She's mentally challenged, according to the authorities.
Now, why weren't her parents doing a better job of protecting her?

Kidnapping? He is wrong for being with a 1 year old girl and even attempting to take her across state lines. But isnt "kidnapping" when a girl is forced to go somewhere she doesnt want to? I didnt hear anything about her being tied up or in a back seat, so she must have been doing text meseges in front of him. I dont think that is kidnapping. Its just a pervert hanging with a 16 year old and not paying her anymind while she texts her friends and lied saying she is being kidnapped. Hes a pervert. Not a kidnapper. She went willingfully.

I meant to say 16 year old girl. 1 year old was a typo.

1. Wheatland is in California
2. Its 9hours from Hillsboro,Or not 1hour
3. Perhaps you should research the facts of the situation, before making presumptions about her or her parents. Quite obviously information is being witheld here since this is an ongoing investigation involving a minor.
4. He refused to allow her to leave the vechicle...that is kidnapping!!
5. She is socially "disabled"/"stunted"/"immature".....not mentally challenged.
6. Yes, she got in the car willingly...but NO SHE IN NOT "the one to blame" that this guy was planning to rape & kill her!! murder and rape are never ok, neither are consentual & NO ONE but her knows what this guy said to her to trick her into going with him. The guy is a preditor, they know what to say to convice girls who should know better and HAVE been taught the dangers of the internet into going with them, it happens all the time, just most of them don't make it back alive. Those of you preaching that your kids know better.... that doesn't make any difference at all it CAN still happen to YOU!!!
How about a Thank God she's alive!!!

Typical day on the internet. Idiots on the loose. You know who your are. You just search for an opportunity to make fun of people and ridicule them when you are the A@# H$%^.. Didn't you read the articles about the teenager girl who committed suicide over text messages calling her names on the Internet a few months ago? Do you want something like that on your conscience? Good luck with that.
