You are limited to programs and some you can't even use. I am now a very happy owner of an Apple Mac. We bought our first laptop a year ago with Vista, no problems, and now just bought another in October with no problems.  I found it easy to search through programs, and find what you are looking for. When you do a save as choose use the drop down box to change what format the document saves in.
