Sony's XPERIA X1 Revealed With 'Arc Slider' Design

Sony's Xperia X1 Revealed, Features HTC Design

We speculated last month whether Sony Ericsson's new "XPERIA" marque would be a one-off or an entire new line of phones. Now we have confirmation that it'll be the latter, thanks to details on the new XPERIA X1, a so-called "arc-slider" that has a curved sliding QWERTY keyboard.

The device delivers a wide, 3-inch touch-sensitive display and a 3.2-megapixel camera on the back, along with internal GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and a microSD slot for memory expansion. It's running Windows Mobile and, according to word on the proverbial street, is actually built by Windows smartphone extraordinaire HTC (makers of the Touch for Sprint/Alltell and the Tilt for AT&T Wireless). While the phone definitely has Sony Ericsson visual styling queues, the device's overall design is very smart-phone-like.

Overall, it's a nice-looking device and one that we can't wait to get our hands on. Unfortunately we're all going to have to be patient, as it's not due to drop in the U.S. until the second half of this year.
