Tiffany Unveils $85,000, 400-Diamond Cell Phone
If there's one company on Earth that could have given LeMillion a run for its money, it would be Tiffany. So were were a little disappointed to hear that the luxury product retailer''s first foray into the cell phone market costs only $94,000. The more than 400 tiny diamonds are 20 carats, and will help the phone blaze along at 3G speeds on the super fast data network of Japan's Softbank Mobile network.
Little else is known about the phone other than a launch date of February (in Japan), but judging by most other "luxury" handsets, its probably a diamond encrusted piece of crap that will find itself to be obsolete in the not too distant future. (Let's just hope that Softbank and Tiffany offer on-request gut renovations, as rival luxury phone maker Vertu does, so that users can update the handset's innards when they want to be up-to-date).
