Exclusive, Would-Be MySpace-Rival Pownce Goes Public
Do you like Twitter, but wish that it offered a little more functionality? Or do you dig Facebook, but think the whole Web 2.0 social networking scene is a bit stale? Whatever your feelings, you need to check out Pownce, the latest revolution in keeping in touch with friends. The social-networking service has just entered a public beta, meaning the software isn't quite ready for prime-time, but is open for you to check out. Created by the same people behind the immensely-successful Digg, Pownce is a mixture of group-based IM, event invitations, and file sharing. You create lists of friends and can post updates a la Twitter, but can also post files for download like any file sharing app. You can also post up events for friends to join in on. It's a bit of an odd mix of features that we're not sure will necessarily make Pownce the next MySpace, but, again, if ya gotta be cutting edge, this is it.

What I think (as an ex-Twitter member) is this: TWITTER sucks big time.
And that's not because they should have more functionality, but because it seems the whole thing was started out by an ill child mind.
The mass spam, rules over rules, and a lousy support is what characterize Twitter.
Oh and lets not forget about the work involved to raise your followers one by one because 3rd parties are not allowed to follow/unfollow people for you.
The API thing is a bad joke. Designed for so called "Twitter products" as like they are some sort of golden bracers or something.
For the most part, when you start twitting you get involved because you have the chance to talk with a gazillion of people. But after a while you find it boring and very time consuming. Not to mention you always got to keep an eye on "not spamming" the system.
Finally what do you get from Twitter? Just a lot of junk mass spam.
PS: Oh and they are helping porn webmasters to promote their products too. Who know, maybe if Bin Laden lived today .... he were twitting too with his cousins in Irak lol...
