Cathy,
Your body IS in starvation mode. The reason why people in 3rd world countries or people who are anorexic are smaller than you is because they didn't stop eating all at once. It sounds like you were eating probably at least 1200 calories a day then you went down to what sounds like MAYBE 500. Your body now holds onto eveything you eat. Your motabolism is shot which is why you can be on your feet 9 hours and not lose anything. You may actually have a medical problem whith not wanting to eat. Ask your doctor for a referral to a specialist. If that is not an option...join Weight Watchers. They will help you focus on what you need to be healthy. Just know...YOU WILL GAIN WEIGHT AT FIRST. The reason for this is because your body thinks it is not going to get food again so it will hold on to what you give it. Also..in order for us to live we run off of fuel....which is food. If you are not eating what is your body running off of? Right now your body is eating your organs including your brain. Another option is buying a juicer. Make smoothies that are high in vitamines and have calories. If you are a teacher you get thirsty. Drink the smoothies and get in your vitamines and calories. This will also help increase your appitite, then you may begin to have hunger signals again. Good Luck.

Well if I was paid to use Jenny Craig I could lose weight too! I bought a treadmill and walked off 25 lbs already and I didnt even eat Jennys food! Jenny Craigs is owning million dollar race horses with all that food sales! and she is kinda plump herself! Valerie you're as cute as ever! Eddie doesnt know how to grow up, he thinks he's still a young rocker, and wants the young chicks now. So he dumped you! Man what a loss! you're gorgeous woman! fat or not!!

You always have been one of my favorite actresses. I give you a lot of credit to step up and talk about your weight. When you get older, your metabolism slows down, and its a lot harder to loose the weight. I never had a problem, but only the last year, due to a severe back injury, I've gained about 10 lbs and thats a lot for me. It is so hard to exercise because of my injury. I just wanted to let you know that you really inspired me to try to loose those 10 lbs. Thank you so much. P.S. I'm a huge VH Fan!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jenny Craig is a fad diet and we all know that fad diets do not work. WEIGHT WATCHERS is not a fad diet...it is simply learning how to change your bad eating habits and eating healthy food that you either buy in a grocery store or a restaurant. Go the Jenny Craig route and I guarantee you that you will gain it back, plus more! Learn to change your eating habits, and you CAN BE set for life. But if you think you can hurry up and lose the weight so you can go back to your old habits, you are setting yourself up for failure! And the cheapest "health spa" is putting on your athletic shoes and walking out the door......keep going for 20 minutes, and then turn around and walk back home. That is good for starters! No one said it would be easy. Change your bad habits and change your life!

Back in the day..WW told us to shop only on the outside isle of the grocery store..That is dairy, meat, vegetables and fruit...Food is ONE of worst additiction, people can have. You have to eat to keep your body going..If your a wife and mother, cooking for the family, is like daggling a carrot in front of the horse..We associate food with celebration, conversation and even sadness(wakes)they always bring food. There is no magic bullet, that works for everyone. Everyone that has had success in dieting thinks theirs is the best way..Just keep trying, something will work for you eventually.
TrishaJan 20th 2008 9:56AM
Thanks Mary, That is good to know.....

Dear Marti,
Not everyone can walk for 20 minutes on a regular basis. This is a very real situation for some disabled people, so all solutions have some relevance. My point is we shouldn't just try and throw everyone into the same basket, assuming that they can do what we THINK THEY CAN. I walk, I just do it in the water and then I don't have to take pain drugs to make it around the block.
Again there are an awful lot of wonderful suggestions, thanks.

Yooo becky..minner needs to go..being fully disabled is 1 thing but how much money is spent on the adds..spend less on the adds people might be able to use them..o by the beckey if you didnt get yours for free we could pay to have are roads cleaned in the winter and give support to the people that need it.wonder keeping you in shape is worth watching someone have no food our heat at all////time for reform

I remember her when she was on the sit-com when she was younger and she STILL looks good. Before she lost the weight she was magnificent. Weighing more or less she still has the same charm she always had. Goody for her on her quest!

Un like Rossie, Valerie is a class act all the way. She is a beautiful woman heavy or not.
And for Sue the only diet that works is eat right and exercise. If diets worked there wouldn't be so many books . TRY IT !!!
SukieJan 20th 2008 10:09AM
The only way to lose weight successfully is to work out. I've tried about every diet there is and until I joined the YMCA, and started going 6 days a week and sweating my ass off, I didn't lose a pound. Believe me, the treadmill is the answer.

Hey Sue, it does not cost you a dime to get off the couch, put down the fork and walk around the block a bit. My god, money does not solve issues, feeling sorry for yourself and stuffing your face with Mc'D's is an issue.

Hi Trisha,
The YMCA does give "scholarships" , meaning they check to see if you are not finacilly able to pay and then they let you go free for 6 months or so.
Even in you make a decent income, you can STILL have hurdles, they will listen and try to help. The water workout you need maybe waiting for you at the Y ! Give it a try, cause you are not a quitter.

Val,
I've had the hots for you for 20 years!!! You still look great, it's the smile and the eyes...
