Thief Steals GPS Unit, Gets Busted When Police Hit 'Home' Button

Police stopped and questioned him about the unit, to which he gave rather evasive answers. Finally one of the officers simply hit the "home" button on the GPS device which displayed a nearby address. The resident at the "home" indicated that it was his GPS unit, and the 33 year old cyclist was taken downtown.

Just a suggestion for your GPS. Don't use your exact home address for your "home" button. Smarter thieves or their accomplices (parking valets for example) can use your home button to get a map to your address while you're away from home for a fixed amount of time (say dinner, office appt. etc.).

Want to read about an even dumber criminal, if that is possible? Google a recent story about the police down in Marathon, Fla who confiscated some large marijuana plants in a vacant lot. As a joke, they left a "ransom" note saying that if the person wanted their "grow" back, to call this number, etc. (not indicating they were the police). The idiot actually called the number and negotiated a deal to get his plants back! Of course, it didn't end well for him, or his wife. What a moron.
