Man Caught eBay'ing Stolen Goods from Work

Unfortunately for Grant Ross, he knew no such limits. The cell phones, laptops, and navigation devices he stole from RS Components Ltd didn't just stay in his home for personal use, he was selling them on eBay for a profit.
The company noticed an unusually high loss of stock and received information that some of the company's products were ending up on the auction site. It searched for nearby auctioneers with products that the company carried. Lo-and-behold, "Hoodie 1230" was selling cell phones that R.S. Components was missing. Managers bid on one and opened the package in the presence of police. The serial number matched a part missing from the stock room.
Eventually the investigation led to Grant Ross, who had access to the stock and has now been sentenced to 6 months in prison after pleading guilty to three charges of converting criminal property and three of possessing criminal property. The sentence has been suspended for 2 years and Ross has been ordered to do 200 hours of work without pay.

The whole premise of ebay is illegal. According to federal law it is
illegal to allow sellers to bid on their own items, in an auction, in
order to drive the price up. Ebay has no way to monitor or prevent
this activity.

Actually Robbie, that's not true. Try bidding on your own items. Hect, try having a friend bid on them as well. Your account WILL BE SUSPENDED. That's called shill bidding and is not tolerated by EBay. They know your computer IP address so even by using different seller names, it's still trackable. So nope, try finding another (legit) reason why Ebay is illegal.

Try www.transworld-ads.com to buy and sell stuff. Soooo much better than Ebay and Craigslist....It is FREE and they monitor every posted ad and contents for anything illegal... it is ALL FREE

I sell somethings on ebay. But I have never sold anything stolen. I'm not a big dealer. I haven't sold anything since October. But there are lots of crooks out there. I remember buying some cell phones to resell from a crook who used the name zoomcell. Only one of the phones worked I had to refund the money for two of them. I did get my money back by going through pay pal. He was selling hundreds of phones a day and many of them didn't work at all. When he found himself refunding too much money, he simply changed his name to Quertycell and kept selling junk until ebay kicked him off. That made it bad for the rest of us who were selling good phones.
