Woman Forces Toddler to Smoke, Posts on MySpace, Gets Arrested
File this under bad parents -- a woman in Virginia Beach, Virginia has been jailed for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, thanks to a rather tasteless video she posted on MySpace.Sandra Venery (seen in her mug-shot glory to the right) posted a clip in which she encourages her two-year-old daughter to smoke a cigarette. The video was enough to put Venery behind bars. But despite it being illegal for anyone under 18 to smoke in Virginia, it wasn't the smoking that did it. Rather, it was Venery's often-profane encouragement of her daughter that landed her behind bars. (The video has since been removed from MySpace, so don't bother looking.)

Sorry, Dan...Perhaps you are good friends with this terrible example of a parent, but your friendship does NOTHING to condone this type of behavior! As a matter of fact, it says a lot for your character, as well!!! She needs to be arrested!!!

Amethyst, My parents set all those examples too, my dad ran a very successful business, my mom worked an extra job when they were just starting out. They went to work each day as do my siblings. I never said they were bums, I said they were smokers/drinkers. I am not sure what your post has to do with the smoking or not? I was pointing out that MOST of the time, when a parent smokes, the children will smoke. And that is not just from me. Look at the studies. You and your siblings are in the minority. So it did not work out that way with your family. Most of the time the reverse is true as in my family.
My brother and his wife both smoke, and guess what? They have 4 girls, the oldest is 19, and the ONLY one of the girls not smoking is the baby who is only 8. I am sure that she will join her older sisters soon lighting up. How can a parent teach a child NOT to smoke if they themselves are lighting up? And the method of making a child smoke till he is sick? Did not work on my siblings. I personally witnessed my dad doing this with all six of the siblings that smoke, when they ranged in age from 8-17, and they all still smoke today. Did not slow them down a bit.

smoking is harmful, anyone who thinks otherwise must have been living in a box for the last 50 years. so making or letting a child smoke is harming that child. harming a child is child abuse! thats the bottom line

Theres parents whos teenage daughters get pregnant and the parent supports the daughter being a slut...Isnt that contributing to the delinquincy of a minor? Letting your kid have a My Space page is contributing to the stupidity of a minor. Letting a kid listen to rap is contributing to the stupidity of a minor. This shits all ridiculous!
