Vista 'Most Disapointing Tech of 2007'

We love December, it's the most wonderful time of the year: list time! PC World has released their 15 Most Disappointing Tech Products of 2007, and topping that list is Vista. Why? Five years in the making and the best Microsoft could come up with is a very shiny, slightly annoying, absurdly overpriced software package that is missing some of the most exciting features that were promised by Microsoft when the project was still called Longhorn.
To be fair, every semi-hyped gadget and technology trend made the list. Social Networks, the Zune, Leopard, the iPhone, and Office 2007 were all in there. But, we certainly agree that Vista deserves to be at the top of this heap 'o' crap.

I TOO think the VISTA sucks....its worse than SUCKS...if such a word exists. I went on line & contacted MICROSOFT, a live person & told them the probs i had with VISTA...they sent me the LINK to HP & said ALLLL my probs were TECHNICAL.....then i asked him..SO YOU'RE NOT GOING TO HELP ME? again, HE SENDS ME THE LINK TO HP. I said I'VE EMAILED THEM 2 TIMES, i had forgotten the one email my husband sent, so THAT MAKES 3 TIMES I'VE EMAILED HP...
I said they never responded....
What are we supposed to do ya'll???? GO BUY ANOTHER PROGRAM? I got my computer as a gift from friends...i've told them how i felt about the VISTA & hp...NOW THEY'RE NOT SPEAKING TO ME....
WHAT CAN WE DO YA'LL???
i think HP or DELL or whoever we bought our puters from SHOULD SEND US ALL UNSATISFIED CUSTOMERS A NEW PROGRAM & WE NEED TO DO SOMETHING TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN???
any ideas folks???

I bought HP direct from them and did not know anything and was told nothing about Vista Home having a problem. My old PC was
Dell with xp on it and it worked fine until the power supply burned up. I decided to go new and boy even with more power with Vista it is slow. I am on AOL for my isp provider and it took me 6hrs to program AOL into the new PC. It works fine but slower than hell.

I just got a brand new HP laptop for a Christmas present and it has Vista. I don't see what all the fuss is about. I have had no issues and "changing over" has been simple. In fact, I love my HP.
The only issue I've had is with Office 2007. I'm an English major and I write A TON of papers. Sending them as an Office 2003 document instead of a docx (2007) has been a nuisance, but not a problem.

Unfortunately, my parents have a Vista and they both want to throw it against the wall.
The problem is, everytime they get online, it always boots them off. Also, it takes forever to just load up the welcome sreen when you turn it on. It's getting so bad, they don't even turn the computer on that much anymore...usually just to check their emails or bank account.
I have a Windows XP in my room, and I can happily say I've never had problems with it. I can stay online for hours at a time, I have a semi-quick (for dial-up) modem, and I absolutely love it.
Windows Vista sucks and it should have never came out. XP is the best!

I just don't get it! I bought a Compaq Presario with Vista installed on it and have not had problems with software or hardware. It's fast and efficient however I do clean my computer regularly. I also have a large (250g) hard drive, dual core and 2 gig ram w/ 32 bit OS. Like Niki, I did have minor issues with office 2007 but found ways to circumvent those.Yes, there are some minor annoyances (ie:default folder views) but had those with 2000 & XP Pro as well (seriously, how much space did all those service pack updates use?). Everytime I hear complaints I keep wondering if I in fact have the same system. Also, I have yet to hear what the specific issues are. I do have concerns though that Microsoft will dump vista and I'll be left out in the cold. I have had virus software compatability issues with IE8 and had to go back to IE7, but that had nothing to do with Vista.
