Scientists Clone Fluorescent Cats
They claim there is a scientific purpose for their experiments, but to be honest with you, we can't quite figure out what that purpose may be. The South Korean scientists who created this pair of fluorescent felines claim that this breakthrough will help them study diseases and stem cells. We might not be biologists, but we're not really sure what the connection between AIDS and a cat that looks like a jack-o-lantern is.
This is far from the first time scientists have cloned animals and genetically altered them to glow unearthly colors. Mice, rabbits, pigs -- nothing is safe. A company even bred genetically altered fluorescent fish to sell as pets, called GloFish. Check out our gallery of other flourescent animals below.

Why do we need glowing cats? Other then there adorable. Still, It's horrible that they are experimenting on the innocent kittens!

For all of you who responded to this article by stating (like "Elizabeth" above) that it's time to "quit experimenting", fine. No cures for diseases like cancer for you. Research done on animals for animals has actually led to cures and vaccines not just for the animal affected, but also have led to innovations in treatments for humans. To all of the researchers out there that spend countless hours laboring over lab tables for years to isolate such things as enzymes that might eventually lead to cures for illnesses, keep up the great work. The majority of them are driven solely by the desire to help mankind and yes...even animals.

Hi!Chris. You guys, I'm new to this sort of thing...BUT. #1. I love the mind. It is always in the mode of discovery. But what gets me about our scientific community is there are natual CURES. #2. Take cholesterol - instead of a statin drug ( which causes so much harm) there is Lecithin to clean out our artery plaques. Lowering our cholecterol will not clean them out. MAKE the plaque melt away, and that is the simple natual way, without ALL this CUTTING, DRUGS, FEAR and all. iF WE use MORE of the natural some of these HOOK ON diseases could stop. 3 month supply costs $6.
Every cholesterol particle contains lecithin and cholesterol becomes soluble in the bloodstream only when enough lecithin is present. GOOD HDL cholesterol can help scrub out your arteries. That's because HDL particles contain more lecithin than LDL particles.
So why do we reach for something WAY out there to CURE something RIGHT here now.
PROVEN: since 1992 the beehive was kicked. NOW it is PROVEN that CHOLESTEROL doesn't cause heart disease. But the hard core Scientific experiments continue to go forward... even if your OWN books TELL you 'that one is finished'.
PLUS it is also PROVEN that OLDER people NEED higher Cholesterol to live LONGER.
At least 6 different studies of older people have found that total mortality is inversely related to total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, or both, the higher your cholesterol, the longer you live. High cholesterol has been linked to being better and decreases suicide and depression.
SORRY FOR BEING SO LONG

OK you guys... I like this stuff.
Another thing some of us already know that ARTHRITIS ccan be banished IF we forget about the CARTILAGE thing. TRUTH: the cartilage is sort of like a sponge yhou keep by your kichen sink. DRY, BRITTLE and useless - unless... it's soaked in fluid. ( SYNOVOAL fluid is the "Oil" that actually lubricates and cushions our joints) Plus, synovial fluid supplies our cartilage with all the nutrients it need to grow and stay healthy.
NO supplement is superior to 'BONE BROTH' you know the kind grandma used to make by simmering leftover chicken or beef bones. It is incredibly rich in HYALURONIC acid. And to double the healing power of your bone broth try simmering some eggshells along with bones. shell membrane lining is rich in hyaluronic acid and other joint-nourishing goodies. Now they do have "eggshell supplements" but I'm still convinced that that good old bone broth is better.
Let's ALL keep our minds OPEN... life is interesting.

Why don't we do genetics research on condemned prisoners who are scheduled to die. We win two ways; Find cures for diseases and when we're done, dispose of the prisoners.

Hunter, I think your a freakin moron. Atleast all of us "Stupid People" are smart enough to know it's wrong!!! Haven't you heard that Huntingdon Life Sciences other then the cruelty that HLS are, they also falsify test results and have been exposed 6 times for terrible animal cruelty. Things they test on animals don't always work for humans, why? because it was tested on an animal that is NOT human!!! There wer eleven deaths in a clinical trial for an Alzheimer’s treatment in March 2006 that had no effect on the animal that was tested but killed 11. Hmmmmmmmm go figure that one out.
