Untraceable Cell Phone Terrorizes Iowa 911 Center
Operators at the Black Hawk County Consolidated Communications Center in Iowa are starting to freak out, as a cell phone has been repeatedly calling in to the center's 911 emergency help line. Almost 400 times last week the phone called in, with no one on the other side. Attempts to call the phone back have been fruitless. After some investigating they found that the phone number had been deactivated and is not currently associated with any cell phone carrier. Cell phones, even after being disconnected, can still place emergency calls, as required by law.
Investigators haven't thrown in the towel yet, but they are throwing up their hands. "We are pretty helpless," said Judy Flores, a supervisor at the center. We're just wondering if this is another mother passing off her old cell phone on her gadget-obsessed child.

HEY HEY HEY!!! The quote "We're just wondering if this is another mother passing off her old cell phone on her gadget-obsessed child." offends me as a MOM! Before you lay blame, get all the facts...you have NO idea where the calls are coming from, don't lay blame where you are not able to positivly place blame!!!

Hi Kuddy - follow the link in the comment you mention. You'll see there was an actual news story about a child getting hold of his mom's cell phone and dialing 411 hundreds of times.

Hey Kuddy. If that actually offends you..., turn off the TV and computer, close the blinds, and never leave the house. Otherwise you will have a nervous breakdown very soon from basic things like simply going to the grocery store.

Since we're off the topic anyway when talking about Kuddy, I would just like to mention that her opinion is a valid one. Any respectable news organization would not editorialize or opt in it's opinion in any story, just for the particular reason that it would show prejudice towards a particular gender, race, religion, etc... The author doesn't seem to carry the creed of being neutral.
