Lying Male Intern Busted in a Dress on Facebook

Some people will just never learn. If you're gonna call out of work to attend a party, try not to post pictures of it the next day online.
Kevin Colvin, an intern at Anglo Irish Bank, told his boss, Paul Davis, that because of a family emergency he had to return to New York City. Instead, Colvin was apparently partying in Worcester, Massachusetts. One of the hedonistic intern's co-workers found this freshly posted picture on his Facebook page and Colvin was busted.
The best part is, not only was Colvin busted for lying, but he was busted for lying while dressed in a skirt, or a Peter Pan outfit (we can't tell). No, actually, the best part is that Kevin's boss replied to the original "family emergency" e-mail by blind-CC-ing all his other employees! (No word on whether Colvin lost his job or not, but it just goes to show you how careful you need to be on Facebook these days.)
Kevin, gold and green are just not your colors -- you look a little sickly.

This is just down right funny as hell. You just can not do this, but some people can make up good lies. This is the wrong time to lye and get caught in the work place. He probably will be fired.

Big deal ... so what if he told a little lie atleast nobody was hur or killed by it. Can that person who turned him prove that pic was taken on the same day ? To me sound's like it's notthing more than a witch hunt, his boss and the jerk that turned him should remember one thing. He who is without sin cast the first stone !!

This is the wrong time to lie and get caught in the work place. To make it worse he has on a dress and really being a ferry. This is funny as hell. He probably will get fired.

I find Kevin very attractive and sexy in that fairy outfit and it's making me succumb to my inner urges even though I'm known in public and to my wife and family as a straight man. I wonder if Kevin is brazenly trying to let us know what his inner self really yearns for. Have him call me. An older man may be what this youngster needs to fly.

I would like to know more about his employment history before passing judgement. If he is a good employee, he can use his sick days however he chooses. This picture looks like it was taken at night, he probably would not have been at work at that hour anyway. Maybe the picture was taken at Halloween? I think the other employee that turned him in should get a life!
M.Nov 16th 2007 5:10PM
I don't think he should be fired for lying to get the day off. It'll be "punishment" enough for him to have to go face his coworkers after appearing in that ridiculous costume!
billNov 16th 2007 4:27PM
If the guy posted this picture on his myspace page for the whole world to see... and his profile isn't set to "private", then the boss did nothing wrong "cc"ing his coworkers when he sent out that e-mail. If you put your pic in the public domain, then you can't get mad if people look at it or share it with others.
The person who tattled shouldn't get in trouble. It's not against the law to tell your boss about something your co-worker is doing. I don't like tattle-tales either, but if you saw this pic and it was one of your male co-workers... wouldn't you tell somebody??
Should he be fired? Depends on what his work history is like. If he's a good employee otherwise, then no. If this is just one thing in a long line of stupid sh*t he's done... let him go.

Most of us make up excuses to get out of work.
Kevin got out of work to get into make-up.

Some considerations:
1. It is not illegal to lie, except under oath.
2. It is illegal to share information where the party communicating has a reasonable expectation of privacy (in this instance, email directed at a specific individual, which could be accessed only by him/her).
3. Any photo posted online may be 100 years old. Or in this case, two weeks.
4. Even if this individual lied to escape work, we do not live in a lord/serf world; to be fired, one would think a severe error would be necessary in order for an employee to be fired.
5. Oops... forgot. Most of us work in "at will" jobs now. (That means we serve at the pleasure of our bosses... and can be fired at will.)

I KNOW OF CASES WHERE PEOPLE HAVE DONE ALOT WORSE THAN THIS AND DIDNT GET FIRED BECAUSE OF IT JUST THE OTHER DAY I HAD A DR APPOINTMENT AND WAS USING A MEDICAL TRANSPORTATION COMPANY TO GET THERE AS I DISABBLED AND CANT DRIVE THEY FAILED TO SHOW UP THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME PERSONLY AND TO MY KNOWLEDGE NO ONE HAS BEEN FIRED OVER IT EVEN THOUGH IT WAS REPORTED.

If I was a boss, I would thread very carefully because if you bust an employee for "lying" about something, you can be sure somewhere out there, he'll get a lawyer. When he does, your corporate lawyer will be sharkfood fodder by the time his lawyer gets done.
Let him go under "job performance issues".

It doesn't matter what he was wearing, he could have been nude, but for the lie, yes he should have been fired.
bazzNov 16th 2007 6:03PM
Give the boy a break. Don't fire him. The outfit is punishing enough. LOL.
RebeccaNov 17th 2007 11:58AM
If he were in a position of authority or a position that carried a lot of responsibility then I'd say fire him, but he's an intern. Who cares.

When the employer published the e-mail he broke the law . The timeline is at best fuzzy as this picture seems more a halloween type picture, so what year would the party have taken place? A recent case was settled for ten million, good thing this young man works for a bank.
