95-Year-Old Granny Blogger Reminisces For All to See
Many bloggers like to think of themselves as young and hip and trendy (even though many of them are rapidly approaching middle-age and pre-geezer status).
One blogger, though, isn't fooling anybody, and isn't even trying. She proudly flaunts her white hair while regaling visitors with tales of the Spanish Civil War during the late 1930s -- which she lived through. That's right, blogger Amelia Lopez is 95-years-old, and her unique perspective on things has earned her blog approximately 60,000 readers worldwide.
Amelia says that one of her "very stingy" grandsons gave her a blog for her birthday one year. Once she figured out what a blog was, Lopez started posting and, well, the rest is history -- which, of course, is one of the main subjects of her blog posts.
Even so, this granny blogger also takes time to do some social criticism, such as musings on today's men: "Young men were different back then. They brought us flowers, gardenias, violets, chocolates. Not like the foul-mouthed bunch today."
Lopez may be three-times older than your average blogger, but she's certainly no less opinionated.

Way to go Ms. Lopez! It's so refreshing to hear about someone from the "common sense" generation keeping up with the times. I hope at least some of the younger people are able to learn something from you (like think with your brain not your as*.

I'm 74 and not in the best of health, but when I was younger I worked hard to get money to buy my 1st car and not hijack somebody elses car who probably worked hard for their car.

If she is 95 she was born in 1912. Hard to remember a 1910 revolution.
JeffreyNov 8th 2007 3:44PM
How did she live through something that happened in 1910 when she wasn't born until 1912? Do the math.
JeffreyNov 8th 2007 3:46PM
How did she live through the 1910 Mexican Revolution when she wasn't born until 1912? If she lived through something in 1910, she'd be at least 97 years old.
JeffreyNov 8th 2007 7:25PM
It lasted 10 years. I just confirmed. Don't I feel dumb.
catherineNov 8th 2007 4:00PM
Back off, the revolution lasted until 1917......okay?
DanisNov 8th 2007 3:55PM
You idiots out there need to brush up on your history - the Mexican Revoltion Granny most certainly lived through was from 1910 - 1920! Educate yourselves before dissing someone for something you apparently know NOTHING about!
AmandaNov 8th 2007 4:00PM
Maybe when she was born the Mexican Revolution was still going on so she lived through it, and was able to talk about it.
BuckPepperNov 8th 2007 3:59PM
The Mexican Revolution began in 1910 and lasted until 1917, so she indeed was alive during that period.

to GUNCH,
a person of that age can remember a lot of things, it is what you do with your own mind....leave granny alone. Our elders are our precious leaders, apparently you dont' have grandparents or are too young to have respect for them...

80 Yr. Old GrandmaNov 8th 2007 7:56PM
I'm not quite up to her age yet, but getting closer every day. I appreciate what she is doing. One question? Does she use her son's computer to blog?
I have my own system which I bought and installed myself. I love to "play" with the computer. AOL Games, news, you name it, I do it. I also do volunteer work for church and neighborhood and make lap quilts for Veterans.
Congratulations, Ms. Lopez on your accomplishments. Hope I make it to your age.
