Michael Bay Bites the Hand that Feeds Him

What Happened: Michael Bay, the high-octane, CGI-wielding filmmaker of such cinematic high-water marks as 'Pearl Harbor,' 'Armageddon,' and 'Transformers,' went off on late night online rant against his employers, Paramount Pictures, when they decided not to release films on Blu-ray discs but to take the HD-DVD route exclusively. In a post on his own blog under the heading of "Paramount pisses me off!" Bay wrote "No Transformers 2 for me! I want people to see my films in the best formats possible! For them to deny people who have Blu-ray sucks!" Since there's nothing to enjoy in his films other than some of the spectacular special effects, the sentiment seemed appropriate, although biting the hand that feeds you is rarely advisable.

Career Impact
: Negligible. When Bay caved and said he'd discuss Transformers 2 with Paramount, he certainly lost any whiff of integrity he'd managed to conjure up during the whole incident, but summer blockbusters don't depend on integrity to rake in boatloads of cash.
