Traditionalists might balk, but the holiday shopping season is already underway. Skeptical? Head to your local department store and you'll be inundated by Christmas trees and ornaments. Bargain hunters, though, know that the real deals are more than a month away.
Black Friday, traditionally, is when retailers truly slash prices. Early birds can save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars off of their holiday bills. Switched.com checked with a few elves, who gave a sneak peek at what you can expect deal-wise this year.
Blu-ray Players and Movies: Blu-ray is shaping up to be the biggest door buster of this year's Black Friday. de Grandpre expects at least one retailer will offer a Blu-ray player for just $49. Look for bargains on Blu-ray films as well, with last year's hit titles (such as "Iron Man") to fall as low as $5.
Laptops: With the proliferation of Netbooks this year, it's never been easier to find affordable portable computing, but Dan de Grandpre, CEO of DealNews.com says it will get even cheaper on Black Friday. Look for well-equipped Netbooks to sell for $199 – and basic 15" laptops to go for as little as $249.
HDTVs (Pretty big): The holidays are typically the best time to buy a new TV – and Black Friday is the time to do it. If you're looking for a normal sized set, you're in luck. Piper Jaffrey analyst Mitch Kaiser says he expects to see 32-inch LCD sets for as low as $299. GottaDeal.com is estimating 37-inch plasma and LCD sets will fall to $399 or less.
HDTVs (Really big): Need something bigger? How about a 46-47 inch LCD set for $599 – a 25 percent savings? Or a 52-inch LCD for $999? Dealnews says you can expect both. Plasma deals will be a little harder to come by, but a 50-inch set should run roughly $899.
HD Camcorders: You've wanted to shoot your child's school play in HD for a while, but haven't been able to spring for the pricey camcorder. This might be the year. Low-end, flash-based 720p models could drop as low as $60 (though you won't be able to zoom with those). Expect a high quality 1080p HD camcorder for $349.
GPS: While navigation systems have dramatically expanded their reach this year – even making it onto the iPhone – there's still a market for car-based systems. Dealnews predicts you'll be able to find a no-name entry-level system for $49, while a Garmin or Tom-Tom brand will be as low as $69.
Digital Picture Frames: Showcasing your digital pictures consistently gets cheaper. This year, skip the 7-inch screens and focus on the 8- or 9-inch ones, which should be available on Black Friday for as little as $30.
Monitors: Computer monitors might not be the sexiest of gifts, but they're usually welcomed with open arms – and they'll be cheap this year. Name brand 22-inch LCD models may go for as low as $99, while 24-inch models will drop below $150.
Memory: Don't know anyone who needs a monitor? External hard drives are always popular, since they're an easy way to back-up data. Dealnews expects a 1TB drive to fall as low as $49 this year. Gottadeal is looking for 8GB flash drives to hit $15.

Maybe you should have read or posted her entire blog to understand what she was talking about. Also, since when is blogging about your thoughts something to be judged for? I'm sure Ms. Curry just said what a lot of people think, but are to "scared" to verbalize.

She is just a pubilcity w**** who threw herself all over Chris Knight demanded that he marry her and then went on Dr. Phil compaling about marriage problems due to the age difference. If I never hear her name or see her face again I'll be grateful.

WELL I GUESS SHE'S NOT FAMOUS ENOUGH TO HAVE AN OPINION? I SUPPOSE YOUR OPINIONS ONLY COUNT WHEN YOU ARE "A" LIST. ALL I'VE SEEN FROM BIG CELEBS HAS BEEN COMPLETE STUPIDITY ALONG WITH THE FOLKS THAT LOVE THEM.
THE FACT IS, SHE'S RIGHT!!
BET IS 100% RACIST....ALONG WITH BLACK HISTORY MONTH NOT TO MENTION OTHER RACIST GROUPS LIKE LULAC,LARAZA(WHICH IS ACTUALLY A COMPLETE UNAMERICAN ORGANIZATION).....LET'S GET REAL AMERICA IS BEING FED THIS GARBAGE IDEA THAT WHITE PEOPLE HAVE CAUSED ALL THESE OTHER PEOPLE SO MUCH PROBLEMS AND ONLY WHITE PEOPLE CAN BE RACIST.
RACISM COMES FROM ALL ANGLES AND SOME OF THEM EVEN GET TO ADD HYPOCRICY TO THEIR RACISM.

I didn't read about what she said and don't really know who she is but I have to agree with the way she views it all.
She made a point that most people agree with and that is viewed by the media as "politically incorrect". Maybe so but it makes all the sense in the world.

This young woman's comments shows that she really doesn't understand racism or African American History! First up, BET is no longer owned by a Black person. (A white company owns it.) Secondly, to say a black station is racist is so untrue. Turn on the television or go to a movie and 99% of the roles are White people. Don't get me wrong, I like good movies and television shows regardless of the race?ethnicity of the actor, but it does have an impact on society!

Please! Spare me! One channel that allowed some black reporters, black artist, black comedians, black entertainers get showcased, because the other thousand tv and cable channels are dedicated to white artists. Blacks, as well as asians, latinos, or american indians can't even pay their way into major leading roles for so many years, and still have a hard time of it now. There is one channel dedicated to latino community. Am I upset. NO. Because I am aware their majority of their artists will not be showcased either. Latinos have a month also...it's September. White history, or their versions of it is taught all year long. Don't need to call it white history month or year...it simply is! Achievements of most minorities aren't talked about or taught. Whites and their superior ways put those American Indians, those Jews (era 1930's-40's), as well as those enslaved africans in the awful places they ended up. Dead, concentration camps, plantations, and reservations. And the comment about Jews and the pyramids-How the heck does she know what the Jews talked about. Maybe they did b*tch about the pyramids they were forced to build for a thousand years and then let it go? Please...you people get over it. You have thousands of schloarships that minorities will never be eligible for...you won't call it "For whites only" any more...but we still get it! Are you getting what I'm putting down!

well, i guess everyone entitled to their own opinion...BUT...i disagree with that whole black history month comment. black people have come a really long way and went through alot as a race in the united states. if they wanna pick a month to celebrate the people they are proud of for bringing them so far, and they wanna look back and remember their past, how is that racist? thats just knowing where you're from and being proud of where you are going.
Also, AC says that they air one of her fav shows, "in living colour." Shes complaining that they're racist, yet shes one of the people who watches it - one of the millions of viewers who keeps it going....
doesnt make any damn sense to me. well, she had the freedom to state her opinion, and i just stated mine.

She made a lot of very ignorant comments. BET is actually owned by Viacom and not African Americans so African American are not in control of what is aired. Secondly, there are other groups who have suffered but none were captured, chained and caged like animals and sold as property; then spent years as slaves and forced to develop a nation in which they were not (until recently and still in only parts of the US) considered full citizens with equal rights. Maybe is this woman actually took some time to study history she would say something that actually makes sense.

Rebecca, there is no 'a' in 'speech'. Moreover, freedom of speech means the government can't infringe on free speech (even that's not completely true), which doesn't mean that there are not consequences for speech - namely that you confirm that you are a complete idiot. Adrienne has no idea what she is talking about. As has already been mentioned, BET is no longer owned by black people, and it is not exclusively black anyway. It was started because, as David Bowie pointed out in the 80s, there were no black artists on MTV. How many TV shows are there with black leads on the main networks? When are the contributions of black people to American society discussed other than Black History Month? The answer to both those questions is rarely. So, if Adrienne Curry has her way (even though I know that's not what she wants; it's just what she's saying, because she is an ignoramus), black people will just disappear from American society completely

I couldn't have said it better myself. White people need to stop acting like they don't have a problem with black people. we have to be cheesing and cooning like some uncle toms inorder for you to feel safe. Nobody asked you to bring our black asses over here and do the work YOUR fathers were too lazy to do. and you have the nerve to call black people lazy...um HELLO??? SLAVERY!?!?

We get one channel and one month and white folks go crazy!! She's washed up anyways I mean look at her she had to beg a Brady to marry her. And to those that are apathetic and siding with her are just as pitiful as her. I shouldn't be like this so say what you want to but you are wasting your time!

She might not have double checked all her facts, but who cares? A blog is not an information source its an online diary and she has the right to express her feelings in it. I think she raised some valid points, reverse racism exists. Why can we have a Miss Black America but not a Miss White America? Black is a race, and black people come from many counties all over the world so having Miss Black America is not the same thing as say a Miss Polish/American or Miss Irish/American beauty contest. Why do so many people of color only think white people can be racist? I was approached by a man who asked me "do you like black men?" When I told him that I thought that was a racist question because it was just as wrong to like someone based purely on color as it was to dislike them based on color, he called me a racist white b*tch. Why is it ok for black comedians to mock white people? Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock and so many others have done so for years, and it's funny. But why is it racist and unfunny if a white comedian talks like a black man? I could go on and on with examples but I won't. The bottom line is while we are all equal there ARE cultural differences. What's wrong with noticing that? What's wrong with celebrating that? I am tired of being put on the defensive because I was born white, white is no guarantee of a charmed life, plenty of us work our asses off to live week to week. And let me just add to all the black men out there going off about how they had no rights, you as a black man got the right to vote LONG before I did as a white woman!

Black History Month is racist and is up for discussion, in what form? Black History month is meant to unify people of all colors to show that not only Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell were great inventors that changed the world, but so George Washington Carver and Benjamin Banneker. How is that racist? We also have National Hispanic Month and Cinco De Mayo but why do some white people have such a problem with anything associated with Blacks?
