The Trippiest Optical Illusions on the 'Net
This silhouette wins the award for coolest thing we've seen all day -- and it's not just because the tiny dancer above is in the buff. This is a little test that will tell you whether the left or right hemisphere of your brain is more dominant.
Instead of concentrating on her chest, concentrate on the woman's movement. If you see her spinning clockwise, that means you're using the right side, or more creative side of your brain. If she appears to be moving counter-clockwise, then that means the left side, or more logical side of your think muscle is superior.
At the Switched office, some of us see her going clockwise, others see her spinning counter-clockwise. At least one of us claims to see both, while another one of us opened this animation in Adobe ImageReady in order to isolate the frames to see if there's any direction-changing funny business going on. There isn't.
Take the test for yourself. Then, if you have time for a 50-question survey, compare these instant results to a more thorough diagnosis.

First and foremost, i thought i saw it counter clockwise, but i just looked at it longer, then it shifted to clockwise, anyway, i already had tests about my brain, i am 50 left 50 right. but either way, when you look at it, when she does clockwise, her right side of the leg-and arm - our left side- is raised, like when you do turns (the hard ones) in ballet, when you turn with your right leg as a plie (i forgot the terms, it is so archaic) you turn clockwise, when you do the left leg, you turn clockwise, centrifugal force. I just think it is complete BS. even a two year old can be fooled in 1 min, they say wow, then they say, it is magic, then, oops, it changed again, they will tell their mom, it is just a computer. 2 yr olds are even smarter than adults in some ways...

WOW! This IS truly amazing. At fist, I could only invision the image spinning clockwise. However, after staring at it(her), for a while, I thought I did see it switich direcitions. But then, it went right back to spinning cockwise. As I continued to watch and practice different eye movements, what I found, that worked for me, was to watch (her) knee movements. If I watched the leading leg(the one that is up in the air) and blinked, the movement would reverse but only while the leg was facing forward. And, with a little more practice, I could either look up or down and revirse the movements at will, for the majroity of the time, by switching the leading leg. Now my question is, is this an optical illusion, or does it really have something to do with the way our brains process information? Also, why are we even spending our time trying to figure it out. I think that we all have that in commen.

Shame on these people trying to pull a wool over.......if you watch long enough she switches her legs which lets her go Both directions. end of case

Actually it is a complete gimmick. If you place your mouse on the image then she spins in one direction(after a brief moment) and when you remove the mouse then she goes in the oppisite direction. You can actaully make he stop spinning and just go back and forth..
TOTAL GIMMICK

I was watching the star wars episode of family guy when i saw a similar illusion (the scene when they are looking at the Death Star Plans)
i made a more primitive version of this if you look at the small circle it rotates one way if you look at the big one it will rotate the other way but in reality they are just moving left and right and increasing/decreasing in scale.

Very nice illusion. And to those that think she's switching legs at some point, sorry to disappoint but she is actually spinning in both directions at the same time. Its the lack of detail that lets you see her going either way. What most people are probably noticing is that the animation isn't fluid, theres a little skip when it starts over.

Wait.. she has feet? Hmmm.

Do you know the aion kina, in the game you need the aion online kina. It can help you increase your level. My friends always asked me how to buy aion kina, and I do not know he spend how much money to buy the aion gold, when I see him in order to play the game and search which the place can buy the cheap aion kina. I am happy with him.

I can make her go any way i want or stay face me,kickin left the right,,lol crazo

That's pretty cool! I finally got it spinning the other way. If you concentrate on the shadow of the foot and sort stare at it out of focus, it'll change direction. Then work your way up to her rack she'll be going the other way. Very cool. Though I don't know if its a test for the brain, but probably to see if you have a foot fetish or not :)
LizOct 15th 2007 8:28PM
If you watch her long enough, you will see that she switches legs. Her right leg is pointed when she is going clockwise, and her left leg is pointed when she is going counter-clockwise.
KimberleyOct 15th 2007 10:29PM
wow...for a long time I could just see her counter clockwise.....then I concentrated on the shadow of the foot for a bit and she went clockwise and if I scanned up a bit and back down she would go back and forth for a short bit until I lost my focus and she was back counter clockwise.....amazing.
skyedreame1225Oct 16th 2007 12:31AM
This is totally fake. She switches from clockwise to counterclockwise over time. Dumb.

What a moronic comment...

I CANNOT see her going counterclockwise, no matter how long I stare at the image. I see her ONLY going clockwise. Hmmm...
ChrisOct 16th 2007 4:13AM
VERY cool! To reverse the image, let your eyes relax and go a little blurry and even cross a bit until you see double images of the lady. The image will then switch and you can reverse it at will.
Pamela GervaiOct 16th 2007 4:07AM
Only clockwise! Can't see her going any other way. How intriguing.
trishOct 16th 2007 8:54AM
It actually changed direction for me when I ran my mouse over the image. And it's changing back and forth randomly. The legs pointing even change... This is retarded. And I know I'm not just using my mind to change directions.
