Swann Guardian Angel Baby Monitoring Kit
With the advent of video, baby monitors have become more high-tech. Sure, hearing what your baby is doing when you put them to sleep is nice, but being able to actually see him or her is absolutely revolutionary. The $150 Swann Guardian Angel Baby Monitoring Kit comes with both a camera and a receiver-giving fidgety moms a new sense of security, particularly since it can be used inside and outside of the house (at least up to 300-feet away). The camera transmits sound as well as images with a built-in microphone, while infra-red LEDs give it night vision for a darkened nursery -- all viewable on the monitor's LCD color screen. Built-in 2.4GHz RF modules can be switched between four channels, to help avoid any interference from Wi-Fi or cordless phones. Along with more freedom, like having cocktails on the patio, you also get insight into your child's sleeping patterns. It's baby voyeurism at its best.

Sorry, but this isn't a "Must Have" for anyone! I have 4 kids, including twins, and used a baby monitor for about two days before getting a clue that it wasn't necessary AT ALL. While I agree that parents need to monitor their babies, the good old fashioned "In Person" method works the best. Otherwise, responding to every peep and gurgle not only keeps mom and dad up all night, it continually reinforces the baby to become a high maintenance sleeper. Peek in on your babies often, but relax..... and get your own rest, too!! You'll learn their sleep patterns without having to watch them sleep on a monitor.
