Just last week 3 Young Adults were robbed of their I-pods here in chicago ages ranging 20-23 and it happened is dimly lit areas of the city. So that really brings up the question:"Should one wear an I-pod in high-crime areas that are dimly lit? Even when there appears to be no one around? tell me what you guys think.

dancehead87

Comments on iPods Linked to Rise in Crime

And when the Bulls Jackets were big they caused an increase in crime. Same as with Nike when Jordan and Johnson made them huge. Really people......look at the facts....any time something NEW and COOL and PORTABLE comes out.....there is a rise in crimes involving the theft of said object. All I can say is so far no one has been killed over an iPod

DethsSuccubus

Comments on iPods Linked to Rise in Crime

In fact, an iPod Nano was credited with saving a soldier's life in Iraq. The bullet, which was stopped by the Nano in the soldier's chest pocket, would have most likely pierced the heart killing the soldier nearly immediately.

Oliveme

Comments on iPods Linked to Rise in Crime

"All I can say is so far no one has been killed over an iPod"

Actually, yes they have. A young boy in NYC was killed not handing over his iPod, back in 2002.

But to say that the iPod is "responsible" for a rise in crime is ridiculous. We have large communities of youth who live in single parent homes with little to no supervision or direction. Ipods are just the item of today. This problem is going to continue until certain groups take more reponsibility for their communities. Just because you don't hear about it in your "community", does not mean its not happening. People are so quick to put labels on other people when stories like this come out.
