Gadget Silences Noisy Neighborhood Dogs
Does your neighbor's dog bark incessantly all day and night, or worse, tell you to kill? Put down the arsenic-laced Scooby snacks and instead pick up Bark Free, a nifty little gadget that silences the sound of a dog barking from 30, 50 or 60 feet away depending on the model. When Fido barks, Bark Free flips on and emits ultrasonic sound waves, which are undetectable to the human ear. When the barking stops, the sound is switched off. Though not harmful to the perpetrating pooch, the ultrasonic sound is rather unpleasant for him and he quickly learns not to bark in the vicinity of your yard. Prices range from $70 to $120.Man, cats are gonna have a field day with this one.

Anything that cost $7.00 its not going to work. Any animal lover would not use a device like this.

Dogs that bark and bark all day and night long are a nuisance, and their owners don't seem to realize that people need to sleep well in order to get to work the day after. Dog barking is a big problem everywhere. so I'm glad someone came up with a device like that.
I wish someone invented something to silence
loud music playing drivers.

OUR DOG BARKS AT THE NEIGHBORS ON EITHER SIDE OF US. I DIDN'T CARE IF SHE BARKED AT STRANGERS BUT SHE IS BARKING AT THEM BECAUSE WHEN THEY GIVE THEIR DOGS TREATS THEY WOULD GIVE HER ONE. NOW WHEN SHE SEES THEM IN THEIR YARD SHE RUNS TO THE FENCE AND BARKS (BEGGING) FOR A TREAT. I BLAME THEM FOR TRAINING HER TO BARK AT THEM.

What about dogs in earshot that are NOT barking? Why do they have to be punished?

I had a dog that barked constantly at night. A neighbor suggested a cure handed down from his father. I was skeptical at first, but by the third night I never heard another peep. The Cure: When said dog gets going, a pitcher of water thrown on them silences them, and through this amazingly fast process of controlled stimulus and conditioned response, the dog associates his behavior with the unpleasant feeling of being wet. No physical or emotional damage done to said dog and everyone slept happily ever after.

THE GUY WHO SAID: "I DON'T WANT SOMEONE ELSE TRAINING MY DOG NOT TO BARK, AND WHAT IF THE DEVISE WAS LEFT ON DURING A ROBBERY !!! OR- ALL DAY ANTAGANIZING ALL THE DOGS IN THE AREA WHO ARE -NOT- BARKING !!!" VERY VERY VALID !!!
DOGS BARK FOR TWO REASONS; INTRUDER/POTENTIAL DANGER -OR- I'M FRUSTRATED/OUT OF CONTROL. THE OWNERS OF THE FRUSTRATED DOGS ARE NEGLEGENT FOR NOT TAKING BETTER CARE OF THEIR DOGS OR THEIR NEIGHBORS (SHAME ON THEM). THE OTHER DOGS ARE DOING THEIR JOBS...TO PROTECT US OF POTENTIAL DANGER.
THIS PRODUCT MAY-NOT-BE-HUMANE, AND IS AN INFRINGEMENT OF OUR RIGHTS TO OWN A DOG AS PROTECTION VIA AN ALARM SYSTEM AS WELL AS FAMILY & BEST FRIEND. I WOULD NOT WANT MY PRECIOUS GOOD DOG (personal guard) IRRITATED BY SUCH A DEVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wish they'd had this years ago. We had 3 dogs, right across the street and right across from our bedroom window, that barked all night long. The owners, apparently, didn't hear them as their bedrooms were at the back of the house.
My husband had to get up at 5 AM and couldn't get any sleep. One would start then the other two would join in. We talked to the owners and one of them just commented on the loud cars that drove by and started them. We told him that the loud car lasted seconds and the barking for hours. The only way this ever stopped was the dogs eventually died! I love dogs but their deaths didn't break my heart. When the first two died, the third one never barked at night again.
We now have a little yapper that barks when his owners leave for the day. He never stops, all day long, non stop. One of those little dogs with the high piercing barks. I'm surprised he can keep it up all day and not get hoarse. It's extremely annoying. I talked to the owners, nicely, they were shocked and it stoped for a while. Now he's doing it again.
Then we have the dogs that come from whereever and poop in my front yard! I'm considering a spray bottle with amonia in it but have to catch them first!
I probably wouldn't have been able to afford this device but it would have been nice if I could.

dark chocolate WILL do the job

Do they make this to shut up humans? I think we need to shut people up more than animals.
I would use it on all the women on The View.
I would shut George Bush up.
I would love to shut Kelly Ripas big trap up.
And I would love to use it on teh douche bag Bill O 'Riley from FOX.
Animals are a part of human nature - Dogs bark - Thats what they do.
If you dont like your surroundings because of a loud dog - Move your fat ass out of the neighborhood.
Shame on you cruel humans.

I agree with AGREE's comment. Dogs bark for a reason. I blame owner's, not the dogs, for any behaviors the dog's might have. I have a basset/beagle mix, and my neighbors actually love hearing him bark when he does. He only barks to let me know he needs to go in/out or when someone is at the door.

Although dogs barking can be annoying and this device isn't harmful (if it even works), why are we punishing the dogs when it's the fault of the owner? If someone leaves their dog out and lets it bark all day, I don't see why the dog should be punished. Also, I don't want someone else determining when my dog should or should not bark.

I too would like to know what collar Lee bought I hated the one I tried it gave my dog a light zap (I tested it first on my inner wrist) I had to shave his throat, he screamed every time,I could not leave it on him when I was @ work, and quickly learned what it meant. when I put it on him he would freeze like a statue.I threw it out and I know I paid like $60 I have had my dog for 7 out of his 10 years and he barks @ ME comming it the front door!

In order for this to work it has to be in the same area WITH the dogs, DO YOU understand????

My best luck silencing neighbors dogs after years of asking them to control their dogs barking was to complain to the city's Animal Control. They had to make an appearance and were informed that either night or day, they were to keep their dog quiet or be fined. It was so easy I wished I had done it years earlier. I think they bought electric collars which were not too effective and were forced to keep their dogs indoors. For once, city government worked for me. Several months later the dogs were barking again and I only had to tell the neighbor once I was going to call animal control again. He didn't want to lose a day of work by appearing before animal control and this time getting a fine so he resolved the barking problem again. Haven't heard the dogs for a couple of years now.

Duck tape only works on quacking ducks, silly. It does nothing for dogs.
Duct tape, on the other hand...
CathySep 26th 2007 1:00PM
In order for this to work the gadget must be placed in close proxinity to the dogs, like in the same room. If you buy one for your neighbors dog, give it to the neighbor!!!!

As an owner of an incessently barking dog, I have tried everything. I got a collar that sprays citronella (like mosquito candles) and she just barks until it runs out. Then I got a shock collar. She still barks when she wears it.
This one is no different. If a dog wants to bark, it'll bark. BTW, I'll take ANY suggestions of how to stop my dog barking because I know my neighbors hate me because of it. I've tried a squirt gun, water hose, buzzers, professional trainer. I've even tried to get her debarked but nobody in my area will do it. They say it's cruel.

Wow!!! That's a great invention! I note one comment regarding "Big Rigs" and their Jake Breaks. Now the question is: Can he invent one for "HOGS", you know, those Hogs they call Harley's?
