Cell Phone Use Causes Hearing Loss, Study Finds

The team of researchers caution that "[their] intention is not to scare the public" and "there is as yet no cause for alarm." They also don't give any explanation of why a cell phone is any more dangerous for hearing than a traditional headset. But, if you're a heavy cell phone user and value your (or your children's) hearing, you might want to think about laying off the babbling a bit.

If these testing efforts were done in a more metropolitan area like NY or LA, I would feel more confident about the outcome they find. I have a hard time believing a study done in India.
However, I had a tumor next to my ear 3 years ago, the same ear that I put the cell phone up against. The doctors were puzzled and I blame it on the cell phone. Now I use a blue tooth on the other ear and hope for the best.

I knew that this was going to come up, the way that most people overdo it on their cell phones. I only use my cell phone for emergencies, not talk forever. And I have my cellphone off unless I get to use it to call anyone. Perhaps it's time to get back to face-to-face conversations. Our obsesssions with technology is going to affect our human systems. When you're attracted to all that electricity from that cellphone, it will hurt your ears a lot.

As an audiologist, all I can think of is, "I'm going to be RICH!"

I think science is killing us all off, any ways, so why not use the heavy head or cell phones? When you get older, you do not want to hear it anyways.

How about the loud music from the cruisers on the street, should we pay for their handicapped status?
