The best thing to do with a backup is to store it online on servers . Also you should be carefull where to store because some can turn their back on you or they can go bankrupt if the company is trusted.
You can safely use Dmailer http://www.dmailer.com/dmailer-backup.html as your free software and also they offer you the possibility to store your backup online on their servers but only 3gb for free members ( but they have a lot of good prices for larger packs )
You will feel your files safe and secure in the same time if you make the right choice.
