iPhone Price Drop Turns Early Adopters Into Crybabies

Well, the $200 price cut on the iPhone may have made many Apple fans whose pockets aren't that deep pretty happy, but it has annoyed some early adopters who bought the thing when it came out a mere two months ago. The eight-gigabyte iPhone has had its price cut to $399, which is $100 less than the price of the four-gigabyte iPhone when it debuted at the end of June. Speaking of the four-gigabyte iPhone, it's being phased out. You can pick one up for only $299 through the Apple outlet, while supplies last of course.
While price cuts this steep are relatively rare in the world of electronics, they are not completely unheard of. Particularly in the world of cell phones, quick and drastic price cuts are quite the norm, especially for high end feature phones. When the MotoRAZR first debuted, it was a $400 phone, but within a few months, it was down to $249. By year's end, the RAZR was only $99. Even the Samsung BlackJack saw its price cut in half, from $199 to $99 after only three months. A price drop after only two months is unprecedented, but it comes with the territory of new gadgetry.
So to those whining about how Apple ripped them off -- get over it. (Now, if you're one of the lucky few who bought over the past two weeks, you may get a refund at your nearest Apple store.)

HA HA HA If the crybabies would have waited, they wouldn't be crying. I waited to purchase my 30gb Ipod. I paid $200.00 for it brand new. I could have purchased it when it first dropped and paid $1000 on Ebay. BUT WHY AND FOR WHO???? When I first heard the Iphone was coming out, I told my husband we will wait a few months. A few days ago when they said the price was dropping, this soon, I told him we can now can get one each.
GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT!!!!

It is not surprising, Apple wastes no time in making its products obsolete after the consumer has plunked down a chunk of change for it. I purchased a computer 15 years ago at the hefty price of $1700.00, only to have it obsolete, with no upgrades available within 3 months. Their products are not bad but the fact that they plan for obsolence within months of their debut is absurd considering the prices they charge.

i still have my dinosaur alltel phone. solid black, looks and operates like a communicator from star trek, is sturdy and strong as a rock, has no screen, games, picture taking abilities, doesn't store music, doesn't do text messaging, and it doesn't even give 911 any idea of where i am if i call for help. look, i love what i have and don't care to upgrade until this neat tiny phone dies of old age. when it does, i still doubt i'll get a cell that's got all that extra crap. i don't need it and i don't want it. my alltel phone is at least 10 years old now and still going strong. y'all are suckers, ha, ha....

Wow! I have read all these comments about the iphone and everyone has very strong personal opinions. Is this really news worthy? It's almost like Paris Hilton and her jail/ no jail/ jail thing all over again! The fact is technology changes as quick as a cat can lick its ass. What's hot today will almost definitely not be as hot tomorrow. I remember getting my first Atari set back in the very early 80's and thinking I was so cool, and quickly became the popular kid on the block. Then two months later my neighbor got a more advanced Atari set which made my set seem as popular as a black and white tv. What I am trying to say is if you are the type of person who must have the newest and most advanced technological devices you should be able to afford to keep up with the change. If Donald Trump bought an iphone you think he is calling apple for a refund? NOT! Most of the people who are complaining are those who charged the damn thing on thier credit card and still trying to pay it off. Consumers need to be smart before they go running trying to have the next best thing. Shop around and do your research. Being a smart shopper is much cooler than being a impulse buyer. Also, our tech. is so behind europe, and japan. What we are getting now is at least 6months to 1year behind. I bought my black razor (unlocked) in London 3 months before it was available here in the US....So what's next? The new ipod is coming out. Is anyone getting the picture here?

We're not crybabies - just bitter. I don't remember a product that dropped 40% in price two months after introduction. But then this is coming from someone whe never had a PS2, Gamecube, Nintendo 64 or whatever other crap is available out there. I suppose many of you "haters" have been screwed before - just screwed for something insinifigant and stupid like a video game. Now all of you "SMART" people power down your 400mhz relics and get your keeper to tuck you in and on that note, STFU! :) PEACE!

Just been to the Apple Website, seems like someone at Apple has taken people's comments on board and are giving $100 store credit to early iPhone purchasers. Good marketing move I suppose. http://www.apple.com/iphone/storecredit/
