How to Save a Wet Cell Phone
Whether you've dropped your phone in the toilet (as do 885,000 British citizens per year), or made the mistake of trying to take underwater phone cam portraits of your pet fish, you'll want to find out about a little trick that may save your phone from a water-logged death (or at least keep it on life support long enough to transfer your photos, contacts and other data to a new one).
Remember, though: It's only a phone. Don't ever risk your life chasing a phone that's been dropped in water ... unless you count fishing around in a public toilet a risk to your life, which it might very well be. As we've previously reported, two drowning deaths have recently been linked to cell phones: a boy who tried to fish his out of a lake and a man who went chasing after his in a sewage drain.

I tend to drop my cell phone in the toilet about once a week (typically on those saturday nights when i am out drinking). OK, not really once a week but i have done it probably about 5 times. What i find works is (if you can stand too, i mean come on its YOUR pee) grab the phone out asap. Turn the phone off!! Then lay the phone on your heating vent in your house (open) for about 48 or so hours. During this time do not turn the phone back on! Ive tried this, not good! I promise it will work until the next time the vodka and cranberry is flowing and you venture into the bathroom.

I ve done this more than 2 or 3 times having a son 17 going on stuiped and a girl 18 going on dumazz. When they get there cell phone wet. 1. take the battery out. 2. turn the oven on 250 deg. or as low as it will go. 3. set the phone and battery on a colth towel for about 20 min. 4. take out and let them cool down. Every thing is fine. Now salt water ~ we have tryed all the trick's ~ Time for a new phone...Oh, thnk about this leaving your cell in a car in the summer time with the windows up, The phone can get hotter that 200 or 250.

I took the battery out my phone and blow dryed it with my hair dryer! Then i let it sit out for the night! the next day it worked with no problem and when it was time for a new phone I was able to recover all of my information!

How stupid do you have to be to drop ANY phone... home OR cell into a toilet?

I put mine in one of our 10 Dehydrators,i stacked it up 8 high and put it in the middle. (Without the battery of course.) I had it working in about 3hrs,i put it in twice, about 20min each time.

I dropped mine in a toilet in a pizza resturant by accident while i was un zipping my pants to go. it slipped out of my pocket and fell in the toilet. I was like SHITTTT!!!!!!!!!!, i'll deal with this after i pee. So, in the end, i had to get a new phone, luckely i had insurance. It would be a smart idea for any phone user to have insurance on there cell phones

mine was in a washing machine at the laundry. watch the phone go around for 20 minutes in the machine window. it was off. i put it in the dryer for 30 minutes, the next day took the battery out left it on the dashboard of the pickup in the sun for a day. about 70 to 75 degrees out. phone works fine. still running after 8 months.

As a former Nextel Employee I have saved many wet cell phones. 1st you need to hand dry and remove the battery as described. Next get your hands on an Air Can like the ones used to clean a Keyboard. Blow the air into every opening on the phone. Charger port , Headphone port etc. Then between the keys. You will actually see water drops fly out. Since the air pushes some of the water to the other side of the unit you must repeat over and over probably using an entire air can. Next use a warm hair dryer against the holes. I suppose you could try the rice idea after but I have never needed to.

I dropped my phone in the toliet and I took the battery out and got the leaf blower and blew it for about 20 minutes let it lay out for about 2 hours and then put it back together and it worked great for about 6 month until I put it in a cup of pop then that was all for that phone.

i dronpped my cell phone in a really big cup of mountain dew. awesome, i know. i took it to the sink, rinsed it out.. i figured it wouldnt hurt anything.. and took it apart and let it dry. it worked later that night. i was shocked, and it kept working until we ran it over with the car haha (it fell outta my hoodie pocket and my boyfriend didnt think of looking under the car.. neither did i.. and he backed over it)

Mine died, right away, I dried it left the batt. out ect .ect. it was dead as a door nail and when I took it back I thought I was going to be cool and not tell the guy but he knew right away, theres a tattle tail in the inside of the batt. compartment. It told, I had to buy a new phone but the guy was pretty good about it and gave me a decent enough deal, lesson learned, if you work on steam turbines, leave you'r phone at the desk.........

If you cell phone gets dropped it liquid...make sure that your wet cell phone does not get turned on by opening it (if it is a flip) or turning it on (if it isn't a flip) because the water and the battery will fry your screen. TAKE THE BATTERY OUT IMMEDIATELY. Yes, put everything in a bowl of rice for 48 hours and your cell phone will work just as if nothing had ever happened by dropping it in water.

If you are going to use a cell phone (which is all of us), you might as well get paid for it. Then, you don't care if you lose it or break it because you get paid so well for it!

BLAH BLAH BLAH, Can we please read more repetive stories? Please please, my phone got wet I dried it out and it worked. Tah Dah!!!!
mittyFeb 20th 2009 2:39PM
Yes this does work.... it also works with ipod's ...my daughter's went throught the washing machine and wouldn't work at all. So we put it in a baggie of rice for 2 weeks and wa-la it works just fine now! I could've saved a lot of money on phones over the years if I had known this!

I have twice ran my hubby's bluetooth headset through both the washer and dryer, and both times it worked perfectly upon finding it in his pants pocket afterward! Still working fine, and clean too!
