Online Game More Populous Than NYC
Blizzard's truly massive massively multiplayer online (MMO) game, 'World of Warcraft,' has marked something of a landmark achievement. The game, which has only been online since November of 2004, has already gained a subscriber base of 9 million avid gamers. To get an idea of the scale, the five boroughs of New York City currently count 8.2 million residents.
Even more impressive is that each of those subscribers is paying Blizzard $15 a month for the privilege. Do the math and that's an awful lot of revenue.
Since its 2004 release, the game has become a worldwide phenomenon, available in seven languages and soon to be officially released for Chinese gamers, where it should be another huge hit. Who knows, maybe next year it'll beat the entire NY state population, currently set at 19 million.

It's a fun game. Nice to get away from reality once in a while. Unfortunately, there are some people that claim "addiction" to the game. The Reno couple who let their 2 children starve because they were too busy playing an online game (not WoW). Everything in moderation people!!
