In the U.S., couples that publicly slobber over each other earn the disgust of the people around them ... maybe the errant empty beer gets thrown at them, but little else. In Beijing, however,
PDA is sometimes viewed as a crime - - by accident. The city's widespread network of closed circuit cameras is monitored by computers, which, according to the Xinhua News Agency, may accidentally interpret public feels as something more sinister, such as kidnapping or robbery. The mix up can occur because the computers are programmed to monitor "violations of safe distances" between people. The computers are kind of like fathers who are overly protective of their daughters.
Though police officers will step in and determine if a dangerous situation is happening or not, the city has gone ahead and put up signs in police-monitored public places, which read in both Chinese and English, "You are entering a camera-monitored zone."
Hey, if it were up to us, PDA would be a punishable crime anyway. Isn't that what pay-by-the-hour motels are for?

If I have to look at girls butt cracks so they can show off ther whore tags (tattos). And if I have to look at guys underwear so they can wear the biggest pants they can find. Well I guess you will have to tolerate me kissing my husband in public.

hehehehehe.....you folks may not see this now, but by allowing the governemnt a little of this and a little of that (monitoring),soon all privacy will be gone....then what? waaaaa....why does the government have to tell me how to live, what to do in my own private bubble :-) I just love how the end will be.

I think that PDA isn't completely gross until people start getting carried away. If the general public can't tell the difference between what you're doing and sex, then there's a problem, but other than that, I think it's alright.

This has got to be the most stupid thing I have ever heard. And wtf is it with the people bitching about people being affectionate in public? You know you are the first people to look! The rest of us normal people really pay it no mind and go on about our own business. Why is that so hard for you to do as well?

Your mother and father did it, it's human nature to love and be loved, as long as they don't have sex whats the problem? No one has ever got pregnant from kissing or holding hands.

WHATEVER HAPPENED TO "EVERYTHING IN MODERATION"?
LOVE DOES NOT NEED TO BE SHOWCASED IN PUBLIC, NOR OVERDONE. DECENT ACTS OF AFFECTION ARE TOLERABLE, BUT THE "GET A ROOM" ATTITUDE, STILL HOLDS UP FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!!

people should not do that but the police need to let this stuff go.the people love eachother they can kiss and every thing as long as no clothing is removed i think they should be left alone.America IS free is it not?

Here's a solution...Outfit the surveillance cameras with specific devices that deal with the "offense"..ie, if a crime is being committed, have it fire off the same type of heat ray the military is going to use in Iraq - if it's a PDA that's getting too risque, have it fire a stream of cold water like a garden hose on overly amorous dogs..One more thing, I want to be the camera operator..LOL
