I have two teenagers and both of them d/c'd their email accounts two years ago when myspace came out and texting became all the rage. Before that, they did have email accounts, but would only use them to IM people. They used to spend hours in front of the computer IM'ing (pretending to be doing "homework"), but now they only get on the computer to really do homework, which is rare. My son is off to college this fall, and he had to create another email address for college applications, which he hated doing, and he never checks it.

Sarah
