Which Video Game Console Will Rule This Year?

Though I was most impressed with Sony's press conference -- a return to the slick and and cool gaming aesthetic for which the PlayStation is known (with games such as 'Echochrome,' 'Infamous,' 'Killzone 2,' and 'Wipeout HD') -- I think overall the upcoming titles I saw for the Nintendo Wii held the most promise.
There's no doubt that the Wii has ushered in a new way to play games. At first, the motion-sensitive Wii remote seemed like a novelty, but the console's success has meant that gamers everywhere are having to work on more than just the finger-skills required of traditional controllers. The Wii's dominance was evident all over E3, as everything from sports and shooter titles to platform and music games received the motion-sensitive Wii controller treatment. Case in point: Konami's 'Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party' now features some arm moves with the Wii controller, in addition to the typical foot steps. EA's 'Boogie' lets you add style by swinging the Wii controller around versus just pressing a bunch of buttons or stepping on a pad.
Nintendo also pulled out a couple of new accessories, the Wii Zapper, essentially a shooter-controller that will work with games such as November's 'Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles'. And none other than Mario-creator Shigeru Miyamoto came on stage at the Nintendo press conference to debut the Wii Balance Board, a new peripheral for 'Wii Fit' that players step on to do Yoga, ski, head butt soccer balls, and other healthful activities.
Innovative use of the Wii controller or otherwise, cool-looking new Wii titles abounded. I'm most looking forward to 'Super Mario Galaxy' (November), 'MySims' (September), 'Rayman Ravin Rabbids 2' (Fall), 'Boogie', and 'LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga.'
