It's excelent for e-mail but as a cell phone itself it stinks. I will wind up getting a smartphone/TREO myself. I deal w/Dr's and Lawyers day in day out and I drop calls, lost signals, 6 to 7 times a day.

marsha smith

Comments on Turn Your BlackBerry Into an iPhone

Im glad i saw ur comment marsha smith, MY BLACKBERRY DROPS CALLS ALL THE TIME, TOO!! Download and install onto your laptop the Sprint mobile broadband app so that your bb 8830 now becomes a bluetooth-tethered wireless wide-area broadband modem. Forget about having to dive for a hotspot while on the road. Now your laptop is always broadband-internet-ready even with your 8830 in your briefcase or on your beltclip. Now download and install onto your 8830 the following java applets: Beyond411, VR+, Telenav 5.0 (subscribe to the Telenav service for under 10 bucks/mo - you won't be sorry), Ka-glom or other fav games and install them via your BB desktop manager app. Install a 4GB microSD card underneat your 8830 battery and load your MP3s or ACC files from your itunes. Then get a bluetooth v2.0 A2DP-compliant stereo-mic headset like the Motorola S9. Trust me! This IS the ultimate setup. Now your 8830 BLOWS AWAY the iphone by a country mile. Imagine a SECURE & integrated 10-account email-push device (able to integrate with you employer's intranet AND PBX) with integrated PIM, voice-activated phone/speakerphone, broadband modem, movie and music player, web-surfer, directory assistant, birds-eye-view personal turn-by-turn hands-free navigator, audio dictation recorder, gaming platform. Oh, I forgot, you can load other apps also to actually get work done like with MS attachments. If you have a newer car with a bluetooth stereo system, your 8830 will wirelessly play your music collection over your car stereo, then when a call comes in, the music is automatically muted and the call proceeds over your car stereo speakers. then when you hit the gym, don the Mot S9 stereo headset and the same experience operates portably. INCREDIBLY COOL. Nothing touches this level of all-in-one convenience.

jf roadwarrior
