Dead Wrestler's Final Text Messages
WWE has released text messages sent to employees by wrestler Chris Benoit, who last weekend killed his wife and son, and then himself. The text messages themselves are rather benign, but what's chilling is that they appear to have been sent after Benoit murdered his family.Police believe Benoit killed his family on Friday night (June 22) or early Saturday morning, but waited around until Monday morning to hang himself on his weight machine. According to WWE's own timeline, Benoit contacted WWE employees on Saturday the 23rd to inform them that his wife and child were ill and that he'd have to miss a scheduled appearance. According to the police timeline, Benoit's wife and son were, in fact, already dead at this time.
While attempting to rebook Benoit for a Sunday appearance, WWE employees received the following text messages from the wrestler between 3:51 and 3:58 a.m. Sunday morning:
3:53 a.m. "My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane, Fayetteville Georgia. 30215'"
3:53 a.m. "The dogs are in the enclosed pool area. Garage side door is open"
3:54 a.m. "My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane. Fayetteville Georgia. 30215''
3:54 a.m. "My physical address is 130 Green Meadow Lane. Fayetteville Georgia. 30215'"
3:54 a.m. "My address is 130 Green Meadow Lane. Fayetteville Georgia. 30215'"
At 12:30 p.m. the next day WWE had been unable to make contact with Benoit , which prompted the wrestling organization to contacted local authorities. At 4:00 p.m., WWE was notified that the Benoit home was a crime scene.

How can you say this could happen to anyone? He killed his wife and child. He is not a hero or a great guy, he was a wrestler.

How can you feel sorry for Chris? He killed his wife and child, then himself. He is a worthless coward. Maybe I would feel sorry for him if he didn't send text messages BEFORE he committed the murders, or he didn't call the WWE AFTER. He is disgusting.

It is alleged that he and the wife were arguing over child care for their disabled son. It seems to me that he made enough money to hire help. I don't know if it's easier said than done, but there are plenty of advocates that would've helped out in some way. Also if I might add if the wife asked for a divorce 3 years ago for "cruel and inhumane treatment", it was only a matter of time before his temper would escalate. It's really sad when women take out restraining orders and threaten divorce from abusers, and then turn around and drop everything. Very very dangerous. RIP

i dont feel sorry for anyone that commits murder and the takes his own life! he is a coward afraid to face the real life just like the coward who took so many lives at Va. Tech.

I guess , I still feel he was great one day then he turned bad... Don't you always hear on the news
people say " oh he was the nicest man " so you see
people do go bad, I don't know if it was drugs or just life pressures. just wait untill someone you think is great and they do something like this and you will be able to understand where I am coming from ok...

I am very disturbed by what has happened. It is very sad and scary to think that someone could just flip out like this.I don't feel sorry for Chris or his wife but I do feel sorry for that little boy.I just cannot stop thinking about this.God bless their family.

It can only happen to "anyone" if 1:) You choose to not effectively address problems you have with self control that hurt other people or affect them in a negative way 2:) Believe that your thoughts and feelings are above and more important than those around you. 3:) If you are the type of person, Like Benoit, and you choose to NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for your own actions then It's only a matter of time before you do something stupid. Thinking it can't and won't ever happen to you is probably the single most IDIOTIC and STUPID thing a person could take from this experience.
If something is humanly possibly and you are human then by all means you are humanly capable...Or maybe you're divine...I'll let you decide that one.

I think he was a coward also. I will never for the life of me understand how anyone could harm a child. It absolutely makes me sick that he would kill his wife and child and stay with them over the weekend, placing Bibles beside them? Those two souls we know went on I only can hope the Chris Benoit is burning in hell for his crimes, had he been a real man he would have not been on drugs had seeked out help and his family would still be alive. Didn't his wife also have kids with her first husband? Anyone that feels sorry for him must have the same warped mind. I only feel sorry for his wife and Child. The media needs to quit sensationalizing him showing his pictures and show the pictures of the victims. WWE made me sick showing a tribute of this mans life. There is no reason paying tribute to a murderer.

I guess I am confused, but if the police believe the family was killed Friday/Saturday and these text messages were sent on Sunday, then how were they sent before the family was killed?
DonnaJun 28th 2007 12:56PM
I was wondering the same thing.

I have an autistic teenage daughter and believe me, I KNOW how you can be pushed to the end of your rope. The services available to help families in this situation are almost non-existent. The divorce rate for families with autistic kids is nearly 90%. HOWEVER, this man had the money AND the resources to find care for his son and place him in any damn school he pleased. There are private day schools AND wonderful residential schools for autistic kids FOR THOSE WHO CAN AFFORD THEM. In my opinion, this murder-suicide was about control and power. Nothing else. He was a self-absorbed coward and deserves no pity.

I believe based on the evidence found in the home and on the text messages, Benoit killed his wife on Friday, his son on Saturday and then himself after sending the text messages.

Maybe someone should explore the fact that he used steroids extensively and what destruction they cause not only to the body and the mind. If his child is disabled steroids could be the cause of that also. I feel sorry for his family and for the sadness that all his fans feel. No one will ever understand what could cause this man to commit these terrible acts.
diggatreJun 28th 2007 1:00PM
I understand saying you don't feel sorry for him, why would anyone he murdered his family. But you don't feel bad for the wife. Just because she went back to him does not mean it's ok to murder her. I feel for the families on both sides that are going to have to deal with this. It is a tragedy. Also how can the USA network air a 3 hour tribute to this man, when he murdered his family, whether he was a great star or not, he's on the same level as a drug dealing alcholic that kills his wife. A murderer is a murderer.

A COWARD IS SOMEONE WHO IS SHAMEFULLY AFRAID OR LACKS COURAGE. BY DEFINITION SOMEONE WHO TAKES HIS OWN LIFE AFTER REALIZING HE HAS COMMITTED A HORRIBLE CRIME IS NOT A COWARD. HE PAID THE ULTIMATE PENALTY FOR HIS CRIME.JUDGE NOT YOUR FELLOW MAN LESS YOU HAVE WALKED IN HIS SHOES.

The WWE was scheduled to air at that time. Instead of having the live show, they canceled it and did the tribute. At the time, they did not know the circumstances about what happened and have since apologized for airing the tribute and they are taking out anything to do with Benoit from their memorbilia, or whatever.

There are rumors....again-RUMORS...that Eddie Guererro was tied in with the Mexican mafia. Rumors that he had the Mafia smuggle steroids into the States for him. With Eddie & Chris being very close friends, perhaps Chris got too deeply involved into something he shouldn't have. And perhaps thought this was an "easier" way out.........
Whatever caused him to do the horrible things he did,it is indeed a great loss of life. As much as he may be hated for what he's done, and however you personally feel about the whole ordeal,he was a great entertainer. One of the very best in the biz. And THAT aspect of Chris Benoit I DO admire-and will be missed.
