Panasonic's Sleep Assist System
If you have problems sleeping, you may want to think about packing up and moving to Japan. No, we're not encouraging you drink yourself to sleep with Sake every night, rather it's a new experimental system from Panasonic that may make your life a lot more restful. Dubbed the Sleep Assist system, it's a series of sensors and controllers that work to assure a gentle night's sleep.
The system starts by giving you an automated massage via computer-controlled air bladders in the mattress. Then, when it detects you starting to nod off, the system gradually dims the lights and modulates the temperature in the room to ensure a perfect night's sleep. In the morning, when you start to wake, the lights come up and you're greeted to a supposedly sunrise-like experience. You can then check out your nocturnal statistics on a bedside computer.
It's an interesting prototype, but given everything seems entirely focused on one sleeper, at least for now, this one's restricted to helping out lonely insomniacs, exclusively.
