Is This the Best Product Ever?

Is This the Best Product Ever?

While the hype leading up to the iPhone launch (just one week away!) is reaching a deafening crescendo, it's the post-launch response to the Wii that has been truly amazing. The Wii has been so incredibly well received that even now, more than six months after its release, Nintendo still can't keep them on store shelves, leading PC Magazine to call the Wii "Best Product Ever."

How can it claim the Wii, a funny little game console with a cool controller, is greater than the Tivo that revolutionized the way we watch TV, or the mighty iPod that changed the face of music? It doesn't, really. The article praises the console's simple and playable games, its graphics that are "almost as rich as you'd find on competing consoles" (we strongly beg to differ) and its backwards compatibility (something found on Atari consoles in the 80's).

The Wii is certainly great, but best product ever? Let's just say we at Switched all love our Wiis, but not quite as much as the writers over at PC Magazine apparently.
