Sony's Slick New Portable DVD Player
Sony has just announced this slick little DVD player, the DVP-FX850. The black clamshell employs an eight-inch widescreen LCD display with 180-degree swivel and boasts up to six hours of battery life. It features dual headphone jacks for sharing with a friend and will play back DivX discs and mini DVDs. There are AV inputs for pairing other devices with the screen, and AV outputs for use with a bigger screen at home. Most notably, the player has a USB port, which can be used to view photos and listen to MP3s from an external device, like a USB key-ring. The DVP-FX850 is expected to land next month in Europe, though its price is not yet known. No word either on an American release date.
Given the fact that Blu-Ray is a Sony technology, we're left wondering when the heck a similar portable (not a laptop) will be released that can handle the next generation picture discs.
