Battery and Screen Upgrades for iPhone

iPhone Battery, Screen Get UpgradesIf you're the type who likes to gab for seven or eight hours at a time on your cellie and thought that the iPhone's measly five hours just wouldn't cut it, rejoice, because you're now officially out of excuses for ignoring Apple's latest when it drops in two weeks. Apple has announced that iPhone users can expect eight hours of talk time from a single charge, six hours of Internet surfing, or some combination of the two. That impressively out-paces just about every other smart phone on the market, like the popular Samsung BlackJack, which clocks in at 5.5 hours. However, given that you can buy a BlackJack from AT&T for just $75 right now -- $524 less than Apple's product -- you'd better be buying the iPhone for more than just its battery life.

Fortunately, there's been another announcement: Also upgraded from earlier specs is the iPhone's screen, which instead of plastic will be made of glass -- something rarely seen in a mobile device destined for pockets and purses. The screen is said to be more scratch-resistant than plastic, something scuffed iPod owners will be glad to hear. Whether that screen can handle getting sat upon remains to be seen.
