No Zune for Europe
Earlier this week, word hit that the Zune, Microsoft's answer to the iPod, would not be coming to Europe until sometime in 2008. However, Microsoft has since come forward to report that this news is inaccurate due to the mistranslation of a German interview with company honcho, Steve Ballmer. For Microsoft and any Euro iPod haters out there, the truth is actually much worse. What Ballmer really said is that Microsoft has no timeframe at all for selling the devices in Europe -- or in the rest of the world for that matter.
Though bad news for any Europeans pining away for a Zune, this is definitely the right move for Microsoft. The Zune could certainly use a few more updates and tweaks if it wants to find more success abroad than it has found domestically.
