Will the iPhone Flop?
We've presented both sides of the pre-iPhone launch hype: The positive spin about how kids are willing to plunk down $500+ to get one, and the negative stuff implying nobody's interested (regardless no one will be able to get one at launch anyway). 'Fortune' magazine writer Brent Schlender seems to have made his mind up, listing reasons why he thinks the iPhone may be a complete flop. He refers to Apple's recently released and largely unwanted Apple TV, saying how its lovely design and intuitive interface didn't do anything to spark consumer interest.
He certainly makes a good point, since all we know now about the iPhone is that looks cool and will have Google Maps installed.
Will the iPhone fly or flop? We're only a few weeks away from finding out.
