While cutting the cord between you and Mommy, why not cut the one connecting you and Ma Bell, as well? There's no need for a home phone line when you can sign up for Skype, the Internet service that lets you call friends on the cheap (or, often, for free). As a Skype member, you can call any other Skype member in the world for free. That can be done with a microphone and speakers, or with a handset like the $45 IPEVO Free.2 or the $80 IPEVO Trio speakerphone, both of which jack into your USB port. For an extra $30 per year, you can dial out to any cell or land line phone number, and for $38 per year on top of that you get a number that anyone can call you from using any phone. There's even a program that lets you take Skype along with you on your BlackBerry, so what are you waiting for?
