The World's Cheapest Computer

Finding a computer under $1,000 can be tough, even impossible. Finding one under $100 may sound ridiculous, but Norhtec would show you its $85 MicroClient Jr. computer. The diminutive, cheap computer doesn't yield much power -- 128 megabytes of RAM and no hard drive (it uses Flash memory cards instead) -- but it's turning out to be the perfect solution for airlines and retail establishments. In fact, McDonalds recently bought a big shipment of them for point-of-sale and networking purposes.
If you're thinking of picking up a new computer for $85, though, think again -- Norhtec typically only sells to large companies, so you'll need to buy the computers in bulk to get the price down to $85. What's more, you'll be spending money on things like Compact Flash cards, networking options (like WiFi), and software. Stick to the cheap laptops for now if you don't want to be too terribly frustrated.
