MacBooks Get Boosted

Here's to hoping you didn't buy a new MacBook yesterday! Early this morning Apple updated the Apple Store to include a few updates to its popular line of affordable portable computers. Processor speeds now top out at 2.16-gigahertz (up from 2.0 gigahertz), storage maxes out at 200-gigabytes (up from 160-gigabytes) and wireless adapters now include the 802.11n specification, meaning a potentially huge speed boost if you happen to be connecting to a device that supports it (like Apple's own AirPort Extreme). Also, if you choose to buy one of the new 2.16 gigahertz models, you'll get yourself an 8x dual-layer DVD burner, which is twice as fast as the old one and able to write to higher capacity 8.5 gigabyte DVDs.
Pricing for a 2.0-gigahertz model starts at $1,100, while the faster (and darker) 2.16 gigahertz black model with all the trimmings will set you back $1,300.

Hats off to Apple. I ordered my black Macbook on sunday evening, totally unaware of the impending changes to the spec. When I checked my order status today, I was slightly alarmed and confused when it said the original product I had ordered had been replaced with something else. After speaking to someone on the sales team, she reassured me that I was going to be recieving a better laptop that will be costing me £50 less. Needless to say, I was rather pleased :)
