Moto Launches RAZR2, Not iPhone-Killer

Breaking News: Moto Launches RAZR v.2No, much to everyone's disappointment, Motorola did not announce its much-hyped-and-speculated-about iPhone-killer, but instead officially unveiled the RAZR v.2. It's available July in Asia, but no word on when it arrives in the U.S. So we won't stop the presses.

The new RAZR is slimmer than the current RAZR and is and fortified with an internal stainless-steel frame for strength. The 2.0-inch exterior screen is the biggest available, while the internal 2.2-inch screen has doubled in resolution. There's a 2.0 megapixel camera this time around, two-gigabytes of onboard memory, USB 2.0 for fast transfers with a PC and a 500-megahertz processor ten times faster than the one in the original RAZR.

On the software side, the user interface has been completely redesigned from the ground up to let you do everything faster. A full-HTML browser has been added, as well as a feature that streams video from the camera to the person you're calling.

Three models will launch: the V9 for 3G and HSDPA networks, the V9m for EVDO and CDMA) and the V8 for GSM.

For a brief hands-on with pictures, check out Engadget's coverage, live from the announcement.
