My understanding is that if I had clicked on the link and entered any information, I would have been giving the sender of the spoof emails the amunition they needed to go into my ebay and/or paypal accounts and do whatever they wanted. I have also received these spoof emails from banks, etc. that I had never heard of but they requested that I update my account information or my account would be closed.
